Ashman, is this the idea for the relay? (inside the circle)

Yes, but instead of splicing into the red wire coming off the headlight switch #30 terminal... add a terminal splitter to the headlight switch. Tap into the #30 terminal itself where the 6.0 wire coming from the VR connects to the switch. This will basically power the #1 & #2 fuses from the VR and not "steal" curret from one of the other circuits. This change alone should result in a measurable increase in the voltage available on the #15 fuses.

Hello all,

here is an issue I need to ask advice on. The modern brass spade ends are so flimsy that just a tiny bit of tension on the wire and they slip off the spade, as I was trying to reinstall the headlight switch

Trying to get 5 wires attchaced to 2 #30 spades on the headlight switch isn't working!

Does anyone know of quality brass spades that are as strong as the original VW? I have searched for them with no luck.

Or should I just solder the wires to the light switch and then branch off of those separately?

Thank you in advance,

M

Brand new brass and the wiggle of the wire going back into the dash loosened it an the others like it.

This is what I have in mind. The new headlight switch has 2 #30 spades coming off of the side.

Will this work?

Thank you,

M

If you cannot find a good quality terminal splitter you may have to resort to a distribution block for constant battery power in the trunk.
Something like this:

or this:

In case it is not clear for other readers in the future...
If you create a new distribution point for constant battery power in the trunk... the source wire coming from the VR/battery runs directly to this new distribution point. This replaces the headlight switch as the distribution point. From this new distribution point, wires run to power the...
Headlight switch (There will now only be one red wire running to the headlight switch. All the other red wires coming off the headlight switch get moved to the new distribution point.)
    Ignition switch
    Fuse box
Anything else that should be connected to the battery (eg. relays)
