|
|
I have not bought door seal-weather striping for quite some time. Did a few searches and can not seem to find any recent info on who is making the best foam weatherstrip seal between the door and body. I do recall reading in a thread a while back someone mentioned C&C is making a good seal but can not seem to find that info again.
I used to buy nothing but West Coast Metric back in the day but with the large amount of manufacturers now in the game I figured there might be something better. I need a lot of seals for 3 buses a 60, 64 and 67. Any help, info and opinions appreciated _________________ Samba Member #95 |

I find Wolfsburg West body and window seals too thick ( reports of people sanding backs of WW door seals to close doors properly, for instance). Maybe folks doing seals often prefer them and know how to get better results than i
. I ended up using a lot of BBT seals and like them. _________________ Craig K

That is second recommendation I have had for BBT seals. Is there a supplier in the USA? I can not seem to find anyone.
Thanks _________________ Samba Member #95 |

I messaged Lind just before I posted this thread.
Still in need of info on BBT supplier in the USA.
I see no method for ordering direct from on their web site. _________________ Samba Member #95 |

How do you sand rubber especially the soft inside with the firmer shell? |

from a post by thom:

| I gently ran the entire back of the seal over my belt sander with 120 grit, with extra attention to the extreme corners and inner top edge. It fits perfectly now, but it was a couple of hours work with the repeated grind/test cycles. |
this was an engine lid seal, but I was sure I'd read a few posts over the years of people sanding door seals; on bays too. I imagine you have an 1/16" or so of solid rubber before you get into foam structure, but even that can probably sanded with patience. I'd rather just get a seal that fits, myself. _________________ Craig K

I recently bought seals for the front and cargo doors from WCM and found them to be too stiff. I decided to try CIP1 and had much better luck... they are softer (not to mention MUCH cheaper).
This thread has some good info:

If I could go back in time, I would of bought the UK seals that Mark recommended in the link above.
I bought the crappy WW ones and had to modify them quiet a bit. the cargo door seals destroyed an NOS cargo door mechanism. That was my fault for thinking the seals would form with time. This was after I cut them up to fit around the door hinge bulges. _________________

CIP1 carries many BBT parts so its possible that's what you got.
Lind has better customer service than CIP1 so I would try him if I needed any BBT parts. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |
