I read something vague in the samba archives about people hooking their fresh air hoses to their carbs a primitive forced induction setup. I'm not gonna try it or anything, but it sounded kinda curious. Did it work at all?

There are excellent reasons. The search feature may hold those secrets.

Aw hell, I'm feeling a little generous.

1.) not enough pressure made by the fan
2.) nothing like force feeding dirty air into your carb
3.) It's just silly

There's three.

also may cause your motor to overheat because air that may otherwise be used for cooling is forced into the carb. Also, even if it did produce some boost(which it won't), the factory carb is not setup for blowthrough forced induction and would pump air into the float bowl instead of drawing fuel out.
