Yes it is a good middle ground. It is fine for the hobbyist. Don't over tax it. If you are doing something like sandblasting, give it a rest time to time. Plus, correct me if I am wrong but the next step up would have about doubled in price _________________ The honey-do list put my project on hold....... |

Yes that is correct...$449 (ours) and the 80 gal. was $800. Now we have to convert the 120V outlet to 240V. Got lucky since it's wired 12 gauge all ready. Just need to switch the breaker and the outlet. I think we'll be doing that monday since we're heading up to Havasu tomorrow. |

| I am rebuilding two Champion compressors, 20 gal gas engine powered. The tanks were not coated on the inside and powder rust is everywhere. Anyone have any suggestions for getting the rust out of the tanks and coating them for corrosion resistance? |

This thread was perfctly timed for me!
I have just bought a compressor, which I got used for a very good price, even though it's almost brand new.
It is made in Italy by Fima and has a 3hp electric motor and the tank is 150 litres, which is about 33 imperial gallons. I don't know any other specs, but I'm guessing from what I read above that it's for relatively light duty.
My questions is: what kind of oil does it use? _________________ fig

if the compressor and motor are a single unit, chances are that it is pre-lubed and sealed... no oil needed. Otherwise, compressor oil should be used. _________________ '65 Karmann Ghia 'vert

No, motor and compressor are separate, and there's a little window on the side of the compression unit that shows the oil level.
Compressor oil hmmm. DOH!
Thanks for your reply. _________________ fig

| Air Compressor Oil, 16 Oz. Bottle provides the proper mix of lubricants to keep your pump operating and help extend its life. This high-quality, 30 weight, non-detergent, single viscosity oil prolongs life by reducing valve carbon build-up. Operating an oil-lubricated Air Compressor without oil is like running your car without oil |

5hp 60 I.R. hard plumbed in the garage. Pleanty of power for air tools. Now if I had a sand blaster or painted on a regular basis I would have ponied up for the 80 gal 7.5HP unit. _________________ All the good deals in the world will still make you poor.
I'll finish it!... Some day....
Edit, I started in 2003 and still haven't built a driving Baja. lol |
