I spent some time looking this car over and talking to the guy who built it. It might not be your cup of tea but the workmanship on the car was great. This is his first car build! He hand built molds and then heated and shaped the rear lights using the stock trim ring as a guide. The headlights are mini cooper lights. The interior is full custom and once again a nice piece. He also built the center console that continues past the shifter and e-brake and ends just past the front seats.

Hello Chuck, It's Kevin(owner of the Ghia). It was great talking to you on Sunday at Bugfest. I really enjoyed talking to everyone about the car and answering any questions that came up, it was a blast to build and can't wait to put some miles on it! I also want to thank you for posting some pics of the car on "The Samba" I surf this site all the time and was shocked that my car was a post! I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Thanks again! Kevin Shilling |

Nice ghia. I have built a few and know how longs it takes to get to that level of workmanship. Post some pics of the interior and engine and keep up the good work. |

Nice ghia! Like the Mini headlights.....
Curious, what setup did you run on the front and rear suspension to fit that wheel package? _________________ NICOYA! |

|

Hey Guys, Thanks for the comments!
The front suspension is a narrowed(2") with drop spindles(2.5") the rear was also lowered using the torsion bars, the brake set up is a 4 wheel cross-drilled disc set up. As far as the wheels they are 18x7" Billet Specialties with a 5x130 bolt pattern ( I forgot the backspacing but I have it written at work and will post with more pics later!) The wheels themselves fit under the quarters but for more tire clearance(I also forgot the tire size, I'll tell you later)I did have to take some material off the back of the rotor (rotor to bearing surface), and then off of the caliper carrier to move more inwards. This might sound confusing but if you have any questions, ask and I will try to post some pics or diagrams. Thanks again, Kevin |

Thanks. _________________ NICOYA! |

What year is that Kevin? Mine is a 68, also with Mini headlamps.
Love the interior too. Have you considered putting turn signals inside of the mini headlamps? Did you add turn markers on the side? I'm considering both - no bumpers AND no turn signals is risky business!

Eric,
It is hard to see in the pics., there are side turn signal lights and also l.e.d turn/marker lights behind the custom front air grills. I will take some more pics this weekend maybe at dusk so you can see the lights. I'll try to post them a.s.a.p so please check back later. thanks Kevin |

Fine cars, both. You stayed true to the Ghia's lines, maybe even improved upon them. Nice updates - well done. Make most of today's new car offerings look like rolling turds. _________________ Larry V.~

Your car looks fantastic.
Would you be able to post more pics of it and possibly your build up of the car?
Thanks _________________ To err is human, but if the eraser wears out before the pencil does you're a major screw-up. |

That car looks great. Is that a glass shift knob?
How did you alter the trunk lid to look like that? |

on average, about how much does it cost to do a headlight conversion like that? I love that look! |
