|
|
Hey all! Long time lurker first time poster with a question for the type 3 gurus! Is this air cleaner correct for a 65? Where would I find an air filter for it? Yeah I know the fuel pump is off a type 1 but the original one hardened up and I needed something quick to keep driving! I have 3 type 3 pumps and they all need to be rebuilt...
Any help would be very nice!

That's a brazilian type air filter - normally you would have an oil bath type
BTW that's a later engine:
- dual port manifolds - late style breather - late style dynamopulley cover - late oil cooler etc.

Before I retired from Mahle Filters, I tried to run down a source for those air cleaner elements. I had no luck. They are no longer in production.
Your best bet, is to take it to your local parts store, and see if they can come close. I think at one time, someone said that a Pinto one worked. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Maybe pepboys didn't have a filter for the right pinto when I was there becuase I spent three hours taking every filter out of the box and comparing! I'm gonna take the size of this one and see if I can find a K&N that will fit. |

If you can get them in the US, Rover Mini (old model, not the current BMW one) filter elements fit pretty good. |
Putting this on all the topics about the Brazilian air filter housing for future reference.
The K&N filter for the Rover Mini (i think) is E-2601. Bought one, and it fits! It's a little smaller in diameter than what I assume is the original Brazilian stock air filter. However, it will definitely work. |
