In my opinion, the best Lowlight Ghia, that I have ever seen in restored condition.
Well done!

Since this thread has been brought back to the first page can we have some current photos? I must say that an early Ghia that is all stock on wide whites is a beautiful sight. Best looking VW in factory form IMO. _________________ Quintin - IG @GFK602 |

Thanks again for the compliments!
Car is still in similar condition. I have not driven the car too often this year. I do not have additional pictures of the car but I recently saw my old 59 Ghia at a meeting and had to take a picture from the 56 and 59 together.
Regards,
Rinie |

You truley have a very beautiful car. I restore vw's and have done a couple ghias over the years but never a lowlight. I have restored buses beetles and ghias and can testify that a full blown resto on a ghis is by far more expensive and time consuming than any other vw model i have restored. You really have done your lowlight true justice. Thanks for sharing it with us! |

Ghias are the sexiest cars out there, lowlights are in a class of their own and Rinies is top of the class. Truly inspiring, Thank you. _________________ Pugnare Fornicare Au Mort

Some more detailed pictures from my Ghia. Got it through inspection without any problems. So now it is a matter of ordering plates for the car and then it is finally street legal and ready to drive.
ots of dashboard goodies.
Note 3-row speaker grill.
Enjoy the pictures!
Best regards,

Rinie, where did you find the Motometer gauge mount? Looks really good with the pressure gauge.
I got a scan of this postcard from someone, was it you?

Yes, Rinie his car is a great looking car.
We are trying to get his car shown on the next edition of the Dutch AutoRai. The AutoRai is the biggest carshow (for new cars) in the Netherlands. This year they will also have an exposition for a couple of oldtimers.
Rinie's his car is one of the 20 nominees. With a internet poll people can vote on the cars, The cars with the most votos will be shown on the AutoRai.
People can vote on:
http://www.autorai.nl/nl/nl/2011/Pages/klassiekerpoll.aspx
And the instruction for the not Dutch readers
1) You need to select one car in each periode and than click "VERDER" (continue).
2) Fill in the form:
Geslacht = Gerder
Voornaam = First name
Tussenvoegsel = family name preposition
Achternaam = Last name (family name)
E-mailadres = E-mail address
Land = Country
Remove the subsciption vink for the E-mail newsletter: "Ja, abonneer mij op de AutoRAI nieuwsbrief" (Yes, subscribe me for the Autorai newsletter) or you will get newsletters written in Dutch.
To finisch click on "STEM" (Vote)
3) After voting, you will get an E-mail with a link to activite your vote and to view the results. Click on the link << Activeer uw stem en bekijk het resultaat >> (activate your vote and view the sesults) and the voting is complete
I hope you will help us to get Rinie his car shown to a large public and promote the Karmann Ghia in the Netherlands.

Patrick

Thanks for all those who voted for my car.
And John, thanks again for your effort to get everybody involved. I really appreciate that!
Looking at the response, I still feel like a winner!

Yes, too bad Rinie ended second, but there is still a change that Rinie will be invited.
In the original invitation to join this voting, it was said that 2 or 3 cars from each cetegory will be invited to the show. On the website it was said that only the winner will be shown. This is confusing, so we will see what happen.
And I also have some news for you, Rinie.
I am working to get an article about your car in the Dutch biggest newspaper The Telegraaf. They are looking for the best looking ghia in the Netherlands.
Regards
Patrick
