Those pop top caddys (Rabbit pick ups) are pretty awesome. I also love that Vanagon topper for the caddy. _________________ 89 Bluestar-2.5 Subaru Powered-RIP

So is this now classed as a Mid-Engine vehicle?

I'd always intended to build one of those rear slide in Bathrooms
so I could register it as an RV in NYS. _________________

The Audi looks more like a 4000 Quattro. I used to have the VW badged version a.k.a Quantum Syncro wagon. It was a badass little car, that would make a very cool conversion to an allready impressive vehicle.

Whoah wait...at first glance I thought that was a permanent attachment, but now I am not sure? I was thinking you had to remove the back hatch and you could pass through, but I noticed that rear pod does not have the means to connect to the van interior? I am guess there would be some integrity issues in the fiberglass with that big hole. But, that means, you just connect this thing so you have a travel sink and toilet? The cool factor is there, mostly because I have never seen this and whoever designed it is just a little obsessed. But the practicality get a thumbs down I think. I love those other tops though. The transporter on the truck is classic! And that 100 is beautiful...take (what was at the time, kind of) a snotty rich car, drop on a hillbilly travel trunk. I love it. Very '80s style. Thanks for posting! _________________ On a mission, the destination is just an excuse.

Looks like a Toyota CHinook pop-up camper
not just the hair was crazy in the 80's
I saw one of these in a pick-n-pull and my mind briefly raced about how to adapt the rear onto a Syncro chassis..
then the acid ran it's course.

| So, this attachment is basically a take along Bathroom?!? |
My thoughts exactly. My kids were trained in their formative years, to go in the bushes, by their mom, who received similar training from her dad. I did not realize there existed a training issue, I thought it was just a difference in people.
Where it's more crowded that a tagalong bathroom could make the difference. Germany, for example has as 80 million people in a country 50% bigger than Washington state (pop. 5M).
Interesting that thing carries the water too. What a contraption. Bumper Dumper is more reasonable. _________________

All Vanagons should do this:
Add direct starter-to-chassis cable THEN delete ground strap at front transaxle mount.
The best time to do this mod was in 2010. The second best time is TODAY.
If your starter is slow, this is MORE important. |

Woah, no idea that Vanagon backroom was detachable.
I really like that Colorado LT, and the Quantum / Rabbit / and I thought Fox at first wagon conversions were neat !

Looking at some of those pictures, dated 1973, 1976, 1979 with Vanagon-like front ends. What are those? _________________ Cheers!
