You should line the bottom of the vw sign on the hubcap with the valve stem. My .02 cents |
Did they do that at the factory ? _________________ Mario is a hack at best. What a POS !!!

Thank you very much. I think I got the clutch issue solved.. just needed a little adjustment. I installed the new choke cable, adjusted the parking brake, adjusted the front hood striker, installed the new fuses, installed my newly fabricated hood prop... and then went for a nice ride.

I got it from WW. I only wish I knew what I was doing when I installed it... It looks good.. but not up to my standards..(the installation). The carpet I got from them was the cheaper of the 2 choices, I had a local upholstery shop modify the door openings with trim.
Snythetic square weave, I had them delete the heater holes in the front side carpet. Tan. I also bought the interior seat covers and door panels from them. Oh and the headliner, light grey nap. just like what was in it when I got it.

Steve,
Love your car, man. It's quite literally an inspiration.
It seems like it's just slightly lower than the stock ride height, particularly in the front. I love how it sits, but I was wondering if you did that on purpose, or if that's just how it ended up sitting after you got it all put together? Either way, I think it ended up perfect. It looks like they should have looked from the factory, with the fender gap filled in just a bit, and the tires sitting in the center of the fender opening.
This is sort of the way I am used to seeing stock bugs sitting, with the front slightly upwards:
I've heard some people say that they didn't have the nose-up stance when they were new. And the reason for it now is that the rear torsion bars have had more weight on them for all these decades, so they have relaxed over time. I don't know either way, I just really like the way yours is sitting. Great job, man! _________________ RIP HBB 10.10.84 - 12.25.09

I does sit lower front and rear. It was so rotted out in the back that the rear sat way too low, the rear apron was resting on the tailpipes, it had the muffler bent down a little..that made the front appear way too high..I wanted it to sit more level so I moved the torsion arms 1 notch in back and installed adjusters in the beam. I just adjusted them till I was happy with the way it sat.
This car has gone through such a transformation that not much is year correct. I tried to do what I thought looked cool, and that made me happy. Is it over restored ? Yes.. but I will be driving it for my pleasure. This is the first and only VW I have ever owned. My family had them back in the 50's, 60's and 70's...I always wanted one, but around here they are pretty rotted out.. Now I have the skills to do a rebuild like this, so I did. It is alot of fun to do... and it's very hard not to smile the whole time you're driving it.
Thanks for all the compliments everyone !!!!!!

If I ever build a stock Type 1, it will sit like yours. Looks so much better IMO. Nose up just kills it for me. Very nice ride! _________________ Quintin - IG @GFK602 |

You should line the bottom of the vw sign on the hubcap with the valve stem. My .02 cents |
Did they do that at the factory ? |
I think that the worker that spend time on those details would have been fired straight away

Where'd you source the interior--seat covers and door/quarter panels? Wolfsburg West? |
Yes Wolfsburg West. I love the look, but they are not very user friendly. The seat covers are very soft and easy to mar/scratch. The door panels are superb !!
Steve |
what happened to your original door panels and seat covers- they looked pretty dang nice. |
