Thanks, Dale.
As soon as I can get it on the road I'll give it a try and post info.
It's hard to get drive time in the city. _________________ Project in process. All I need is more CASH.

Well I took it out for a day trip and beat it good and still only reading around 120. I even bought a new sender and put it in the oil relief hole.
Maybe my gauge is faulty?
Also my VDO gauge is a water gauge but was told it would work. _________________ Project in process. All I need is more CASH.

I just ordered a oil temp gauge to see if it makes a difference. _________________ Project in process. All I need is more CASH.

Thats why I installed the thermostat, hoping it would bring the temp up. _________________ Project in process. All I need is more CASH.

ordering an oil temp gauge won't change the oil temps.

The only reason I ordered the new gauge was because the old one was a water temp gauge.
I was unsure if it responded to the sender the same as the oil temp gauge.

Fluid temperature is fluid temperature. The gauge doesn't know what kind of fluid it is. |

Try running it without the oil cooler or wrapping it. _________________ 1971 Westy, 2017cc 78.4 x 90.5 Tims Stage 1 plus 42x37, CB 44IDF's, 135 mains, 175 airs, F111, 50 idles, Engle 110, 30mm, 009, single QP, DD CHT 300*f, VDO oil always 180* Build: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=541370

Just a little update.
After installing the new oil temp guage and duel oil pressure sender I am now reading over 145 deg. and warm idle at 19psi idling.
These readings are after idling in my garage for 15min.
I am happy with new reading.
Hopefully they are correct. _________________ Project in process. All I need is more CASH.
