Just one of the many joys of Vanagon shop ownership.

The van in question is mine. It's an 87' that's mostly stock. It does have Mercedes wheels and a Thule roof rack with two bike mounts.

sorry for the theft
glad you got some of your camping gear back so far

fwiw, the last stolen van I read about in your area, was recovered just a short distance from where it was taken. The plates had been changed.

there is more than one kind of mercedes wheels...

I have to agree with Chris's comments about Eion. I can't say enough positive things about him and the shop. He's ALWAYS gone above and beyond when working on my van and I can't thank him enough for that.

Unfortunately he'd just recently moved and I was unaware of it. It's not that he was negligent in ANY way. Since the van was dropped off late at night on a Sunday I didn't have a chance to call about it until the next day; which is when I learned of the move. Since there was still a few vans in the side lot it wasn't super obvious that the shop had moved. When I checked on the van Monday morning and saw the lack of vans I just figured he was slow and was psyched that he'd be able to get to it soon. But, obviously, that was not the case.

It actually brought to light the bigger issue of his shop being lived in by drug addicts. When I spoke with Eion he told me how super busy he was with the move and large projects so he just didn't have the time to visit the old shop. So my call made him go back to check out the scene and that's when everything became clear. They were actually at the shop with the police when the perps came rolling up in the Sprinter! And he and the cops chased them down. They recovered the Sprinter, but no word on my van. I know the officer on the scene is aware that my van is still missing, but I'm not sure of the current status. We're trying to stay in touch in hopes that it will show up nearby in decent shape.

I'm sure it will all work out and I'm thankful for all of the support from the community.

Here's the most recent image I can find of the van; plate # is 098XUR

Saw it! 107th and north gate way, parked end-in in a driveway. Same plate, wheels, etc. Emailed owned and contacted tec shop owner to call owner of bus. If anyone knows the owner please let them know! We also contacted the owner by email via craigslist. Not sure whether to contact police as they are useless...

Way to go!

I suggest you take pictures, including the license plate and house address, and give it to the Police! Be safe, do not engage the suspect.

Contacted the police. We're actually parked a couple blocks down from where it's parked right now to make sure they don't take off in it. Our green vanagon was stolen about two months ago and my fiance keeps an eye out... He's the one who found our bus. I think if this bus is recovered, he needs to start offering his services as the Seattle finder of lost vanagons. Wish we would hear from the owner, though. Or see the cops go by on their way to check it out.

Hope the owner/cops get on it soon. The bus was already moved once today- Kelson saw it parked across the street from where it currently is parked, in a more visible location, at around 1 pm, which was when he first contacted the owner via email. Have heard nothing from the owner so far. We had to give up our stakeout due to full bladders and empty stomachs so I hope the thieves don't move it elsewhere.

We'll meet you over there, we were at dinner. We think the address is 1712 107th, on the corner of northgate way. Police were notified.

WOAH! I used to live in that house! This was over 10 years ago and I have no idea who lives there now but when you said the street I was thinking it had to be one of two or three houses right there. Crazy story and great job everyone!
