we just replaced the 1600cc type 2 engine in the 1971 bus. the starter turns fine, but the engine wont fire. i have fire to the coil, but none from the coil. i replaced the coil and still got no fire.... i believe the electronic ignition leads could have been swapped on the coil(black on positive and red on negative). i just dont see why it would still turn over if i fried the electronic ignition. im looking for any help or suggestions

Stupid question. Did you put the rotor back in?

If you hooked it up backward. It may have fried the Module.

everything is in place as it should be and the distributor wires are on tight. if the electronic ignition is fried, would it block or suppress power from the coil?

Yes it would. Run the test in the picture, to test the module.
Good Luck

Frying the electronic ignition module won't have any effect on the starting system which cranks the engine. These are independent systems.

You have 12.3 volts where?
#15 positive side of the coil?

Do you have a set of points and condenser that you can install?
