My recently acquired syncro # 2 had a bad water pump. I just replaced it and then found that the left side coolant pipe has a leak where the forward nipple is welded on. Its really rusty and im going to replace it.

After researching it seems that pipe is the same for all 2.1s. Yes? Yet the 2 crossover pipes are syncro specific? ( dont need them just curious now).

I know, fuel lines. They dont look original as the engine is a crate engine installed by vw of anchorage about 7-8 years ago and has somewhere between 20-30k on it. Re: the waterpump being bad im guessing they put the old one on the new engine or over tightened the belt.

So i just want to make sure i get the right coolant pipe as ive seen a few on the classified pages. A good used one will be fine since when money and time allows i will be swapping this engine out.

Yes, That pipe is all the same on every 2.1L. I see a lot of those pipes. I would say 1 out of 5 is good. They all rust. Be careful buying a used one. I would buy a stainless one and sell it for half price when your done. Probably the same money out of pocket and way less brain damage.

The big pipe is universal.

The crossover behind the pulley is Syncro specific if it has the Syncro pulley and seal.
