been living in the pines of Medford for the past 15 years or so. anytime I need to go to a VW event, its at least a 45 minute drive. But it is quiet and I can see all the stars at night so I guess life is good.

ugh! yeah i heard taxes are tough in Medford. Thats a beautiful area though. I moved from North Jersey to Central jersey 3 years ago almost exactly to this week and my taxes are almost half thankfully.

I have lived in Bergen County, NJ all of my life. Not a bad place to live, really. Though I've seen many other areas of the country in my travels, no place is perfect in every way. There will always be a give and take.

Not wanting to jump down a rabbit hole, I'll just say I could "give" up NJ winters and taxes. But other than that, it's where my family and friends are, so it's home.

I found this thread looking for any mention of Specialty Motors, and said to myself wtf, is there even a reference to Atlantic City on this site. I was born in Atlantic City on the green property - Pacific Avenue. Around that time my father bought a red, bullet blinker panel brand new from Specialty followed by hand-painted logos. I never lived in Atlantic City, but went there for high school. I was raised Downbeach [Ventnor, Margate] and mostly in Brigantine. When I lived in Brigantine it was lots better than Mayberry. One drawbridge in, same bridge out. One traffic light essentially for the grade school, and the only meaningful gambling was the card game at my father's shop. No movie theater nor fast-food restaurants, a couple of bars and a bowling alley.

I much preferred the islands before legalized gambling. After graduating Rutgers, New Brunswick I took one last look at the fading shit hole while taking a job as a doorman at the Playboy Hotel & Casino. In the fall I continued school in NYC, then headed west until I ran out of land.

Now in Eugene, Oregon with 65 standard, 68 doublecab, 69 sunroof Riviera, 70 Westy.

Brigantine is still nice from what i have heard. I have been to Ernest and Son in brigantine for deli sandwiches/hoagies/subs whatever you want to call them. Good stuff

Hey NJ folks.

I found this looking for an air cooled shop to help check a few things with an engine build I'm in the middle of. Never assembled an engine from scratch before and find myself exceedingly paranoid about the crankshaft even though I think its in fine shape.

But, I'm excited to have found this thread. Always good to meet other folks from the greatest state. I was born in the city, but grew up in Bergen county and have lived in Jersey City for the last 15 years or so.

Seems like we need a northeast jersey meetup crew. I always meant to go to the filthy buggers meet ups but they are always just so far away...

I already have it down in my calendar! I went to the last one in NJ too, down by Princeton, but the weather was a bit shoddy so I took my daily driver instead of the ghia. Looking forward to bringing Celeste, my 64 vert, to this next one.
