This is Carmine. We picked him up at the shelter last week, a stray Beagle/Boston Terrier who was half his normal weight. He loves the van and has found a perfect spot on top of the Vanagon Life console.
(The spoiled little fella also has a car restraint/bed setup; this was just around the neighborhood.)

We run a dog rescue, so there is always a menagerie of dogs rolling in the van.

The Dog in the middle makes me think of our long gone Audrey, a stray we found literally outside our front door before we got married.... She was hilarious.... Snuck some White Castle Burgers from us and paid the price of very bad gas for several days, under OUR BED..... 
Lucky the Onions didn't hurt her, I thought they were bad for Dogs... 
She had Catholic Guilt down pat... When caught going something bad, she would lick her lips constantly while crawling across the floor on her belly....
You ended up laughing too hard to stay mad at her.....

Rear sliding window is great for dogs. Here's Quigley about to get passed by an ATV in Wyoming.
Not in the van, but he got spoiled with ice cream on this trip more than once.
