What is he part number for the 10mm seals I get conflicting answers and are planning to run 10mm case and 10mm cooler, but I also have 10mm coolers and a 8mm case so I'm at a loss.

I just get a complete rebuild gasket kit, as there are other things I might be sealing up. As KTPhil pointed out above, it might actually be easier to pull the engine to replace the seals.

In your shoes - I'd focus on the sizes and not the part number. I bought all three sizes at one point because I had a similar situation and it was cheaper than paying shipping twice.

Hello, where is the oil cooler and seals located and how are they accessed on a type 3? 1971 fuel injected, specifically.

The manuals will tell you about pulling runners, wires, hoses, tin, and such.

But depending on what's up with your engine, it may be better to drop the engine and do other cleanup/refreshing while it's out. Trying to do it in the car is a PITA so it's a worthy tradeoff.

Reviving this old thread but this is the question: noticed my cooler seals are leaking like a mother-effer… I started unscrewing as many as those flathead screws as I could without removing anything. Got five on the FI side including one facing up. It is a royal pain getting to them and I’m not exactly sure I’m getting all of them. But I also know that the generator has to come out, which I’m not looking forward to. But I’m torn whether or not I want to remove the engine again to do this… other things could be refreshed, it’ll just be more engine shenanigans…

Idk what advice I’m looking for, I think I was just musing… should have posted this on the complaining about Type 3s forum
