I've been using the Origo alcohol stove for the last 20 years or so. First had it on my boat and now use it in the bus. I really like the size and that you don't have the propane bottles to deal with. No bottle to hang off the side so it easily fits on the fold out table in a westy. For me, this is the best of all.

I have an old large Coleman 413G, and this Sears 72301 (Coleman 425 rebranded) stove that I generally keep around for fishing trips and the occasional deep frying in the back yard. They work wonderfully. They are a little worn cosmetically but were both $5 each at a neighbor's garage sale and were an absolute steal at that price! I grew up doing a lot of hunting and camping, and love having my own to use with my kids. My son in particular loves when we bring them to our usual fishing spot at a local boat launch.

Camp Chef now makes Everest 2X, a much improved, very robust stove. Pricey at $190.
They also make Rainier model which has a burner on one side, and a griddle or grill on the opposite side. To me the griddle and grill seems small, I’d prefer bringing a griddle that covers both burners on a regular stove. Priced at $200, I’ll pass for now.
The white gas Coleman stoves and lanterns are selling for low prices right now.
Added on 10/2022:
I’m selling my Coleman collection.
I bought the Camp Chef Everest 2X, Rainier 2X, and stove/oven combo unit.
Very impressed by Everest 2X, it’s as good as they report. Cost me $107. NIB
Rainier 2X not so much. The grill/griddle is small, and very lightweight. I doubt it will stand up to severe use. Cost me $140.NIB
Oven/stove combo came with a solid griddle, everything very well made. Cost me $150, new in the box.
My Chinese “pizza oven” caught on fire first time I used it, what a POS! Seems it’s coated with regular paint, not high temperature paint. My friends thought this was hilarious…. _________________ ________________________________________

These stoves have been unavailable now for a few years-unfortunately. A friend with a boat just had a hell of a time buying even a used one. _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"

Yes-but that’s exactly what I mean. With no new ones available, the used market has exploded into craziness.
I should hit local yard sales, but I don’t tend to spend time doing such. _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"

Anyone try a discada or cowboy wok yet? I’m looking for a real life review. I’m not trusting YouTube reviews on this. |

My friend built what I think you are referring to. Made from a tractor plow blade. Over a large propane burner. Made the fixings for a group build your own burrito. Worked excellent. The tortillas are the very outer edge after most of the cooking was done.
Great for a group! _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"
