Good folks to deal with. Those heads look great and should work very well for your application.

Mine did have to be taken apart to add shims to correctly set the spring pressure.

It is not paint. It is layout dye. It is used to mark where they are going to cut without scratching the surface of the material. It washes off eaisly with alcohol so it you make mistakes, you just wash it off and scribe again. If you scribe the part, it is difficult to remove the scribe mark.

Glen - with new springs I didn't know spring pressure could be an issue. How do I check this??

Are all of the valve stem hieghts the same? The best way to check is with a straight edge/ruler laid on all of the valve stems.

OK I gotta ask, what exhaust do you have on that thing? It sounds like an 8 cylinder from the inside of the bus.

Yes, especially early-bays, for those who use them as daily drivers like I did, they're much more convenient than splittys.

I love my DD panelvan, even if it's ratty... for the moment...

and BTW your French is "parfait" Wink

looks like a good combo. One thing though I would do personally next time I build or have an engine built is have Jake Raby balance it. It's not that much when you think about it !

Just a little update:

Yesterday I realized that my valve stems are not all the same height. On one head - one exhaust valve is shorter than the other 3 stems. n the other head, one exhaust and one intake (in different cylinders) are shorter. I called Greg - he said that they don't pay attention to that - I could have them milled down to match if I wanted but it really doesn't matter. Rolling Eyes Aditionally, I cc's the heads last night to find this:

Head #1
57.5 cc
58 cc

Head #2
59 cc
60 cc

Am I asking too much for the cc's to be the same? I realize I could open them up more - but I'm not a head porter - that's why I paid to have them done - I'll screw them up. They look beautiful and the porting looks great - but the details here are killing me.

What do you guys think - Am I asking too much for $600?

Those numbers boil down to plus or minus 2cc's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but on the engines that these heads are made for, it probably will make little to no noticeable difference. I have no experience although I have held those heads in my hands. On a 1915 or 1776, it may be too small a difference to tell.
