Does anyone out here know the distance from center to center between the rear torsion tube and the front torsion tubes? I found a 59 split bus mechanics book that states that it is 2148.5mm - 2149.5mm with tolerances but the question is if the barndoor has the same measurements?

Also measured from the center of the rear torsion tube, how much higher does the lower front torsion tube sit?

Hope that you can follow me. I am about to build a chassis jig for my 54 but I have nothing to measure on at the moment.

I took this from the 1956 book 'Querschnitt durch die Autotechnik 6, Volkswagen 1950-56'. The book is all 30hp up to 54 bug/bus except for a few additional tables so this should be Barndoor, especially when concerning the offset steering geometry.

A is backside of frontaxle flange ( where the bolts go through)
B is middle of rear torsion bars
C is the gauge made for measuring these dimensions

I think that is only the frame beam the shifter and parking brake is located on. It should be offset the 50,...mm from the centerline of the vehicle.

In order to finish my chassis jig I need to do a support for the front beam.
However to do this I must know the CC-distance between the lower front axle tube and the rear axle tube in the vertical plane. I.e. how much lower does the lower front axle tube sit than the rear torsion tube?

Is there anyone out here who knows this distance? Judging from the picture from "djfordmanjack" above it should be something like 110 mm - 30mm (thickness of the 2148.5 mm rod) - 30mm (half the thickness of the front torsion tube) = 50 mm.

Can someone confirm this?

Just posting this if someone else should need it... I have got 20 mm from two different independent sources. So the lower front axle tube sits 20mm lower than the rear axle measured center - center.

Is here somewhere dimension pictures of barndoor? I really appreciate if I will get the chassis dimensions: height in front/cargo/rear areas and distances
