OK Type 3 wiper experts, I have a question for you. I just bought a pair of NOS SWF wiper arms for Type 3s through 1967. The part number is 311 955 407 A, so I think they're the later style that superseded the earliest design with the square ends. The SWF wiper arms my '62 came with aren't the same as these, and they're not the originals either. They have a clamp mount instead of a set screw, but they're designed for the early 5mm shaft. Here are the two arms side by side for comparison:

Is the lower one the "factory cure" arm that Russ Wolfe mentions in this forum thread?

The one is, but the other one isn't.
The bottom one is the pinch bolt style. the top one is the standard set screw style.

Right, the bottom one in the lower photo is from my '62, and the top one is one of the NOS ones I just bought. I edited my original post to clarify.

Thanks for the confirmation Russ.

I would like to find some of those pinch bolt style for my 66
I only have 1 70 style wiper assembly, and it will be going in my 69.
It cost me $50 for a pair of 70 only T-3 arms, NOS.

I think $50 was a pretty good deal for NOS one-year-only arms. If I wasn't trying to keep things OG on my T34 I would consider going with the '70 splined shafts. Can't believe it took them eight years into production to fix the problem properly!

8 years?? How about from 1935 until 1970.

Same problem on the bug and bus, since the beginning.
Especially a car that was designed in a country with heavy snow.

Thanks Eric, I'll think about it. I might work with what I have -- the NOS ones are new and beautiful, and the ones my Ghia came with are interesting and a better design than the original. Both are made for early Type 3s, so they're correct, if not actually "correct."
