I do not recognize it from LiMBO events.
Yeah surprised how it winds up on used car lot unless something like someone passed along and they just wanted this and any other cars removed.
Ain't going to move at that 20K price, especially when there is likely no history on it at all. I'd say 10K max if I were interested - which I am, but life is too busy and too short at this point. _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"

it will sit for a long time at that price _________________ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐ ๐ ๐ |

Could well be. I didn't get a chance to make a positive ID but it was sitting about three miles away from the antique shop where I first saw it in '23 when I posted pix of it then.
The mismatched paint on the driver's side, the window rust and dealer logo (Lee in Springfield VA) are pretty distinctive, and the asking price is waaay too high. And I see that the seller joined Samba just last month and posted his ad the very next day.

Heading for HoDepot I spotted this one at a nearby eatery. Swung by after my stop and it was gone, so good thing I got this shot from the hip.

I've posted this one before. It's about an hour away and I always check on it when coming back from the mountains. Fellow forum member Popsvan lives closer to it and he might also be keeping track of it. I believe he mentioned it has a Sube swap and it looks like it's being worked on.

Actually, depending on year, the Baywindow Westies came with poptops facing either direction. Early model Bays opened at back and starting in 1974 (IIRC) the top was changed to the style that opened at front like the Vanagon, going from a one person folding cot to the two person bed. _________________ Currently:

This was back in early July. Sugarloaf State Park, Sonoma California.
I actually blame this one for making me buy mine recently. I met up with an old coworker for drinks. He mentions off hand he's got to sell his recently deceased grandmother's old camper. Shows me some photos and I'm vaguely interested but not really. Then I see this thing like five days later and it's super clean. Lit the fire under me, took awhile to get the dmv title sorted and here I am now, attempting to smog it next week.
Also that same camping trip had two cool buses
I apologize for the hastily taken photos.

With the closure of a couple of independent VW places in town, this shop has become one of the defaults for Vanagon repair.

Pulling out of Trader Joe's in Claremont, CA. Cindy sez, "There's a Westy". Turns out, it's a pretty-much very clean copy of the Van I'm drivin'. Mine's an '88. This one's an '89. Body's straight, no visible rust. Same wheels. I park next to it to take a pic. The owner, Lesley, a lady about my age, walks up, we talk. We both live in the same town and, apparently, there's a guy, Mark, with another Dove Blue Westy. Small world.
Have fun, be safe. _________________ '84 GL 1.9

Plus an alternate mode of transportation while the van is out of commission for the swap. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic, tragically crushed by a falling hickory tree in my own driveway and now gone, leaving me Vanagonless and with no plans to replace it, alas. |

Not on the road, exactly, but I thought it might fit.

Last night in PA on I-81 headed south around Hazleton around 9PM. We were in the van headed home from VT and I had just remarked we had net seen another van the entire trip when a silver Westy towing a small camping trailer camp past and gave a friendly beep before disappearing up the road. I was cruising around my normal 3.8K so 67MPH or so, and it went past at at least 75. Am curious what is under the engine lid. _________________ 91 Westy
