Yes Peter T. I'm planning on replacing the stainless screws with sink as well.

I went with zinc coated screws to use on my windows. Supposedly the zinc inhibits corrosion between the 2 metals.

First time out of the garage for 2020.
I installed my 2 spare door windows/ frames because I'm still not done with my repainted set.......soon. They work fine just not painted. While cleaning the garage I also found this ugly plastic wide angle back up mirror adapter and oddly it works so well I'm keeping it, I can see out all the windows! I also fixed my rear hatch after 3 years of it stuck. Labor of love and sometimes frustration.
Look with this adapter I can see out all the windows.
Temporary door windows ugly but works.
Portable carport is very useful I had bought it last fall and now using it for the bus so I can get work done.
Waiting for the pearl white paint to arrive for the lower nose.
The floor arrived the other day.
Now that I fixed the hatch after 3 years of it stuck I should be able to more a little faster. It was the bolts on the hinge that loosened.
Here it was stuck and catching on the left side.
Opens & closes now.
These bolts loosened.
The hardest part was the vent seals and now they are in, I just have to take my time with the rest of the assembly.

As some of you know I replaced my 67 engine lid with a 66 lid and the opening for the latch is different therefore my 67 catch would not fit (thanks Clara for that advice). Well I purchased a 66 latch from a samba member, ekimikem who I highly recomend for super speedy shipping, accuracy and very fairly priced. I installed it in seconds but I'm not sure if I need to replace the 67 strike plate/catch because it doesn't grab the plate. Now when I had the bus painted I also replaced the 67 apron with what I believed was a 67 april added the original catch and I could use some advice to get the 66 latch to fit the 67 strike plate. Are they different strike plates 66 to 67 or is there any other adjustments to make? I could always weld up my original rear engine lid and paint it but that take too much effort.

OMG yes agreed Abscate, once this garage queen becomes a daily curbside bus I'm going to start a pressed bumper project preferably a 56 (my birth year). I have a few welding projects I'm working on now but non VW. Looking back I am still glad I sold the 66 because I prefer older although I think it was parted out and it really wasn't that bad.

I thought it was hilarious, reading all the advice to walk away from a $2000 split in 2008 when you are a welder. Had we known we would have all bought ten of them.

Thanks DONGKG, yesterday I got back from my former students shop and he hooked me up with a guy to pull a ding out of the rear bumper and media blast both front & rear bumpers in November. Pretty happy to finally get that done and on the bus.

Mine was never taken out from original. Linda- you should be able to slide that in from the rear on one side, by removing one of the side pieces that you previously mounted.
