Late reply, but thanks all. I sold the car and I'm looking for a new project now. Going to build a Notch or a Square if I can find the right one. I also sold my ghia.

Just spent the last few hours going through this thread. First off, let me thank you for your service to this great country.

Amazing work, your attention to details is commendable.

Definitely gives me some inspiration for the '58 sitting in my garage.

Cheers!

Ok, so this took me a little while to finish. Just a bit longer than planned. But I did just finish it all up and took it out and snapped some lazy pics with my iPhone. Just figured I'd update this thread. There are a ton of steps between my last update and now, including a new 2054cc motor that I built for it. But in any case here we are and here it is.

Ooh, been a while since I've posted here. Just checked it out and saw my thread. There are some updates actually. I've got a bunch of stuff finalized and this Saturday I'm actually going to start it. Then all I really need to do is throw on the bumpers., hood and decklid. I'll see if I can scrounge some pics up but I kind of fell off taking pics of it, because more often than not I'm just working on it when I get a chance. I have two kids now and a job that works me 60+ hours a week. But I'll scrounge some pics up and see if I can't update this thread. Next month will be 11 years I've owned this and I've still never heard it run.

It's coming I have to post some pics up. Ive been working toward trying to get it done this year, so I have been working on the car but slacking on the pics. It is still being built but I had some health issues this year that have delayed the car getting finished. I've also gotten to the point with this car that I am no longer willing to do anything less than what I consider perfect. That means its taking longer to do stuff but it is going to be a much better car because of it. The details are going to make or break this thing, so no reason to rush it now.

I'm wrapping up my 63 ghia so I can bring that to The Classic this year. I just spent some time this weekend sorting out the suspension. I have a 4" narrowed beam with the airkewld adjusters on it and dropped spring plates from atom werks. Plus all the goodies that go with that; new tie rod ends, bushings, etc...

None that I have pics of right now. I've had a few issues pop up recently and I've had to tend to those messes first. I have't worked on it in about 2 months actually. I got back to california and my life has been a whirlwind. It will be finished though. I figure a good goal to set is to have it done by next summer. My next job on it is to finish up the windows and get all the gaps set perfect with everything together.

You're a lefty! Laughing . Just kinda had to point that out.....

And the two ghias that are for sale that you are trying to pick from. The fist one looks like nobody loved it Crying or Very sad ,and the second one is way overpriced. Not trying to burst your bubble, just sayin.

My guy used walnut shells. There was no panel warping and it ate through the rust that was on the car. Keep in mind if you have any rot on the car it will be holes afterwards. I was very happy with the results.

Thanks man. Ive gone through your build 3 times, I love what you've done. I can see many curse words, beers, sweat and tears have gone into it. Thanks for the info.

Last question and this is to anyone reading. What type of media blasting is the best for the these 50+ year old bodies? Thanks
