That is an interesting way to mount an oversized spare. I gotta be honest, moving the tire out of the way every time I open the rear hatch has become fairly annoying.

Nice detective work! Makes sense. Matt is also a rear engine Corvair guy so it stands to reason that he is familiar with VWs too. |

Real curious how long the stock transmission will last with the extra torque the electric motor puts out?

Major work on that old horse.
He shows a very good reason to pull the cabinets and floor on an old Westy!
It doesn't really take that much effort to remove the Westy interior and pull the floor to check for rot.
