But it looks like the transparent caps are not available at shapeways any longer? I get an error message trying to follow the link. I'm fairly certain that you could still order them in spring/summer Think

Does anyone know of an alternative? Either a different website or a different solution all together?
A saw the under the mirror glass version, but I'd prefer the mirror cap placement.

Shapeways went bankrupt and opened again, all old files are lost.

Nice thread bump.

Turn signals at the mirror is an attractive mod. I'd be inclined to install a quality (@tjet?, the link I have isn't working) version of the style below (just grabbed off the internet) to the bottom of the aero mirror (maybe a bit more visibility being 6" farther out?).

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Ferd, pls. post pics if you make the mod.

These are not surface mounted, they under the glass just like an OE or original part.

I lost one of the end caps for my mirrors and this seams like the best option for me. Now they will be better then OEM and safer. Thanks again.

just a wiring note and not sure if you would want to do this anyways but.

if you wired the LED mirror blinker
with the +pos wire to the +12v parking light
then the LED mirror -Neg to the +Pos side of the Blinker

the LED mirror light would come on with the running lights.
and Blink with the turn signals (actually opposite rhythm)

the LED will ground across the filament as a marker light
and the +12v interrupts the ground path when the blink comes on then off.

this I do to ALL of our rear corner lights when I upgrade them to LED bulbs.
makes the side profile a lot more visible in bad weather.

That is a clever way to go, Danfromsyr how do you like the look of opposite rhythm blinking?

Is there any way to have a single LED on with the running lights, and blink IN rhythm with the turn signal?

I'm very glad! Just got a new-to-me '88 with power mirrors, and getting another set of the mirror lights has been on my list. Best of luck with the new molding machine.

Short update. After moving back to Sweden and shortly after I started up the workshop again, I realized that the injection molder wasn't willing to work with me. I got an electrical failure over and over again and the molding machine was the root cause. I sold it to another person who is renovating it (AKA has more time). I've been looking for a smaller machine ever since, it was too big for me anyway. Problem is that small machines doesn't grow on trees...
I have know found a machine and it will be shipped to my workshop next week. As soon as I get it up and running the sidelight mold is the first project to run!

Started this over the weekend - both sides installed. My van was a power window model, LT mirrors have since been installed - so I used the square hole in the door between the two mounting screws to feed the LED power leads thru. Using the front turn signals for power. They'll be on with the parking lights and flash with respective turn signal & parking lights on. Did this mod on the rear markers last year with same type (but red) of LED unit.

Just need to get the leads to the front turn signals - not so easy on the left side!

Nice work on this. Got a part number for those LEDs?
