That looks fun. I’m sorry I missed it. I did have a productive day replacing exhaust parts and dialing in the Van. Next year maybe. Up next, Un Super Bowl meet up. Nehalem Bay state park, Oregon coast. Hope to meet some of you there. Bleyseng?

Ohh, when is that one? Nehalem Bay is an AWESOME area.

Super Bowl weekend Wink many many Vanagons, busses, and others. Here’s a link. I didn’t own the Vanagon for the last event before Covid. Probably bring the Van this year.

The pictures are staged. The officer patrolling is a VW nut. He likes to check out the cars.

Lol, guess that makes sense given the name! Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to add that one to the calendar as I'd rather be doing nearly ANYTHING other than the Super Bowl.

Thank you Hugo for organizing and thank you to all who showed up! It was a pleasure to meet you all and a good moment to air out the Lederhosen!

What a beautiful day for some vanagon chit chat. I'm sorry I missed it this year (I was out of town).

pnwkayaker, thanks for getting the gang together.

Big thanks to the organizers and participants. I got some good ideas.

Here are the locals that produce the leather goods.

These two vans decided to show what's possible with skill, time and dedication.

Super, super nice woodworking job, Westfalia should take a look to it:

And last but not least, this aircooled van belonging to a couple from Olympia was amazing: it has a great paint job (some blue color that changes depending on the sunlight) and an unique interior made of extruded aluminum (8020 I believe) . She designed all the interior and he did all the build-out, excellent teamwork!

It also had some unique headlights (second van from the left):

One of my favorite things to do is see how each owner personalizes their vans, they're all unique and awesome in their own way.

For instance, this van has a very nice wooden table (bamboo?) and a spice cabinet - simple, unique and very useful.

This second van is unique inside and outside too, lots of interesting things - the owner must be spending hours customizing it, and it truly shows, each year gets better!

Lots of nice goodies brought by corwyn, ended up with a smaller steering wheel and some headlight protectors (thanks Sam!)

This Tristar looked amazing, didn't have a chance to talk to the owners.

Thanks to all who came in to the meetup today, my brother in-law was counting vans as they were arriving/leaving and the total count was 50 or 51 (with as many as 44 parked together at one time). The weather was amazing and the new parking location was great - people brought coffee, donuts, lots of cookies, etc. and all was gone at the end of the day (we stayed for more than 4 hours).

Part of the crew:

Overall view of the vans, split into 2 rows (why? I have no idea, that's how we ended up aligning):

All Vanagons should do this:
Add direct starter-to-chassis cable THEN delete ground strap at front transaxle mount.
The best time to do this mod was in 2010. The second best time is TODAY.
If your starter is slow, this is MORE important.

I had it last year, but if anyone wants to see/hear a FAS 2.0 Gen V, I'll open my engine compartment.
