It did.

Those appear to be similar to earlier examples. I wonder if Westfalia used up the stock they had left before they switched to grey.
Here's an original out of my 67 SO42:

This is the exact cord found in my friends 66, definitely 3/16”. Mine are original to my 66(January build) and are gold 5/32” or 4mm. Wish I could find a source for 4mm in gold. I have shortened my original cords to take up the slack, but they lack the elasticity they once had. _________________ 1966 SO42 |

^^ I suspect they did exactly that- now someone will have to dig in to the last SO42 that used the early bungees.
Most SO42s I have come across have the more familiar grey bungees |

I saw a friends SO42 the other day and he had one cord that was original to his bus in the closet. It was the commonly used 3/16” silver cord mentioned here. Mine however is gold and 5/32” or 4mm all original and all four cords are present. A little harder to find the cord for mine in gold 4mm. _________________ 1966 SO42 |

Looking to replace my curtain cord on my 1966 SO42. My original ones are definitely a brass/gold color, not the silver that is mentioned in this thread. Anyone else have this color?
I looked at the thread on the SO23 cords and they said the cord was 3/16”, but that seems larger than my stock cords. Can anyone confirm the correct size of cord? Cheers

Hi,
Are there tiebacks used on the rear curtains of an SO42 and if so, how and where are they mounted?
Thanks

No tiebacks... just the gray bungie cord. |
Maybe I wasn't very clear.
I was talking about the curtains on the deck lid where I have 2 rails, 1 above the window and 1 under, it's a '65 SO42.
I was wondering if originally there are tiebacks there.
Thanks |
No tie backs there either. Just the two rods. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

It has been a while since I posted on this site. Our 1964 SO33 restoration is coming along well. The main things left to do are the curtains and the rear upholstery. We bought the correct fabrics from Belgium - yellow or gold for the curtains and plaid for the seats - and want to begin cutting and sewing very soon.
Regarding the SO33 curtains, I can't find much on TheSamba or elsewhere with detailed information about this topic. I did look through the above thread on the S044 curtains. Did I miss any threads on this? Can anyone tell me whether the details (other than the fabric and color) are much the same for the SO33 as for the SO44? In what ways do the curtains differ?
Thank you for any help. |

Dusting off the thread.
I just got a new set of curtains from the above link! Excellent quality and great vendor to deal with.
The PO hacked in some bay bungees and drilled holes four inches higher and on every window. Just wish people would do things right the first time.
Any ways, I'm searching for bungee retaining clips:) if anyone has any they could part with please PM me!!
Borrowed picture from above!!

Jacek in Poland makes an excellent reproduction of these two clamps as well as an awesome reproduction of the entire bungee cord kit ready to install.

Super hard to find although they do come up occasionally. These work from Home Depot as a temporary solution:
I used them until I was able to find some originals. |
That's a nice substitute!! I got lucky and ended up finding a set of originals threw a connection I made at OCTO!! |

Anyone have the distance between the holes the bungees screw into? I have materials to make them but the bus is away getting work done. Thanks! _________________ Darren

| Surfndoc sent me a pic of his last night, I went out to my bus and was able to locate my original holes hidden by bondo with a dental pick and flashlight. Glad I asked first and didn't drill the upper hole. So any ideas what that upper hole is, with the metal behind? |

Never removed straps on my original '67 SO-42. They are facing the way they hold the curtains back from getting hung up when you get out, too.
