Save the date!
Syncro Solstice 2025
Arrive Thursday May 15, 2025
Depart Sunday May 18, 2025
Lone Mesa CG Canyonlands, Moab, Utah
Ad hoc trail rides Friday and Saturday as usual. (and Thursday for early arrivals!)
We typically provide some meals with the event and that will be detailed in the registration. Johnny will post registration details in the spring.
We are limited by the BLM to 50 buses and this event usually fills up.
I have personally reserved group site D for any that want to arrive on Wednesday and/or leave on Monday. Contact me for details. This is not part of the Syncro Solstice registration. We will share the cost for the group site among those that are present for the extra day or two. Expect about $15 to $30 per night per bus.
Only six months!

Never made it for “The Solstice” but I recall talk of it being 2wd friendly, yes?
I’ve been there & done several easy trails on my own (Gemini Bridges, Long Canyon,
several switchbacks…) but I think it could really work with my schedule in retirement!

Might be able to finally return!
And with rear discs, might finally do the Schafer Trail!
Provided the engine doesn't blow before then... _________________ ~Kamz

If Kammy and the Daves are coming, we might just have to.
So far as Shafer Trail, piece o’ cake, about 700 lbs. of us three guys once did it in a Buick Skylark (rental though). Dave O and probably Kam would know one from Speed, including the Trans-Am series.
We won’t know where we’ll be in May until it’s too late, but Hmmm… _________________ 1984 Westfailure/2.1 Digijet/5.43 Ring & Pinion/Peloquin/D-rated BFG KO2s

For others not familiar you can drive down Shafer trail with stock brakes. Discs not really needed. |
I should've been more specific: Last time I was at SS (2019), I discussed doing Shafer with I-don't-recall-who, and it was stated that the brakes must be operationally good. My upgraded drums had always sucked regardless of how much they were monkeyed with, so I was advised not to do Shafer out of safety concerns; went mountain biking instead. Finally ditched the [bleep]ing drums for discs, which work fantastic, so, if I get up to Moab next May, Shafer is finally in the cards for my van. _________________ ~Kamz

Dang. Always wanted to do this get together. Timing conflicts with an annual event I already partake in. I can’t recall. Is Syncro Solstice always the weekend after mother’s day? _________________ Keep on Busin'

Great to know it's still happening! I wonder if the old 112i DJ would make it that far...better odds than to SyncroFest I guess! _________________ 1990 Syncro 16" DoppleKabine 2.1 DJ 112i

After the 2018 Solstice I got a job with "NavTec" in Moab doing 4wd backcountry tours in Arches & Canyonlands. The Schafer Trail is actually not a real problem up or down. Going down you want ventilated front discs! _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
