Hey Folks…
I’m excited to introduce this 59 Kab that just arrived for metal restoration.
This Pearl White Low Light has been with the same family since the early 80’s.
I absolutely love the Kars that come with a wonderful history and an authentic passion for the project.
This will be another fun one for everyone involved.

I'm super excited that Jason and his metalworking talents are helping restore my 1959 lowlight convertible. This car is very special to me and my family as my dad bought this car in the 1980's and commuted to work in it for many years. He absolutely loved the car. I have many great memories driving this around in high school with friends, and I went to my senior prom in this vert back in 1989. It's been a family favorite for years.
Sometime in the late 1990's, the car was parked and gently stored. Many years later, my dad was wanting to take one last trip back to our family's home country of Norway so I offered to buy the Ghia to fund the trip for him. That's when it moved from his garage to mine, and it's been stored indoors for many years since as I collected parts, and planned a "someday" full restoration.
Unfortunately my dad passed earlier this year after a relatively short and terrible fight with Lewy Body Dementia. His love for this lowlight convertible was highlighted by our family and many friends several times during his funeral, and I knew it was time to get this restoration started to honor him by bringing this car back to life.
A good friend made the intro to Jason a few months back, and I dropped the car off with him last week.
While the pearl white paint still shows relatively well, the car suffered a couple minor accidents before my dad bought it that were repaired poorly with bondo. It is relatively dry for a lowlight, but when it's stripped clean I suspect we'll find some decent damage in the rear, and some up front as well. I have every confidence that Jason will help get the body and chassis all properly sorted out. I've followed his work for years, and I'm honored to have him work on this special car of mine. _________________ 1950 Pearl Grey Hoffman Standard Split Window

It's great to see that you are moving forward with your Ghia restoration. I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my dad two years ago and every time I get some work done on the Ghia I wish he was still around to check out the progress.
If you need any parts or help going forward keep me in mind. |

Breaking everything down and getting it ready for blast and power coat.
Finding more OEM parts
Also remove the OG fuel line to replace with a new copper line

This is what it’s all about !!!
It’s stories like these that drive me to pursue that passion that satisfies everyone involved and invested in building on this Legacy. _________________ ⚒ Believe In The Power Of Positive Thinking ⚒

That’s a wrap on pan prep and suspension, all loaded up and ready to hit the day spa for a sand bath j
Tucking the wheels away for when it’s time to make the chassis a roller again.
I’m going to send out the tranny to Rancho to work their magic. They would typically just swap it out with another done one but like I have had them do before , they will rebuild this one and send it back. I’m going to keep the axle tubes so I can be sure they are powered in the same sheen as the rest of the chassis and its black components.
With this particular build I will be building up the chassis in house. Very similar to the way I did Loren’s and the Amazon build. This will be a fun one for sure.

Welded the body to the rotisserie so I can begin the demo and prep process
The initial exterior cuts are fairly straightforward, once I get into the second and third layers it starts to get a lot more complicated. For me the most time consuming part of it is grinding away all the excess mounting flanges so that it’s ready to except the new panels after blast and sealer primer.
(My apologies if the are out of order, that seems to be an issue with the website, they do load the way I enter them)

The Original Chassis is in very nice shape and will not need that much to be resurrected
