Dunno what to tell you about an air cleaner.

Here is the warm-air pickup (my "chimney"):

And my engine. Note the paper tube running up to the air cleaner.

Edit: You appear to be missing the under-cylinder "sled" tin on the right side so there probably isn't much warm air to be had there anyways.

Can you post a picture of your air cleaner? Maybe there's a way to get warm air into the carb.
