2017 Type 3 Rally / Cayucos, CA / September 29-October 1

Is the course going to be "lowered car" friendly? I remember that road 6 years ago hahaha.

Also I plan to head up Friday early from OC/LA area, maybe get on the road around 4am. Any groups planning on leaving around the same time? What time does the San Diego group plan on passing through LA?

I'm on the fence whether to get up early to leave the Thousand Oaks area in time to meet at Cayucos, or to leave a bit later and meet in Pismo. I figure that has me leaving the 101/23 interchange between 5:30am and 7am. I'll want to miss the Oxnard/Ventura traffic if possible, so I'm leaning towards the earlier departure. That doesn't allow for any stops other than gas in Pismo or SLO.

Hi, is anyone going from Sac area? My 66 squareback has been out of commission for a while, and I hope to get it going so I can fulfill a dream and go to a rally. I'd appreciate driving to the coast with some vw friends.

One week to go and things are looking great! The weather forecast has highs in the low 80s at the coast, and low 90s inland. We won't be inland late enough to see that much heat - (not like last time!).
For Saturday evening we have Henry and Veronica Aguilar cooking up some Santa Maria Style BBQ for us. I've worked with Henry's cousin for the last 17 years and I know the Aguilar family is all about Tri-Tip cooked over oak. Veronica is making homemade salsa as well! Jack Fisher will get a well deserved break - at least until Sunday morning.
Currently the rally is shaping up with over 30 Type 3s! Also, we are planning on around 50 drivers, friends, and family for the event.
I'll put out some more route information soon, but the important times and places are as follows:
Friday morning:
Borridori Garage 455 North Ocean Ave, Cayucos, CA -Leaving at 10:30
Port San Luis - 3991 Avila Beach Drive, Avila Beach, CA - Leaving at 1:00
Saturday Morning:
Borridori Garage 455 North Ocean Ave, Cayucos, CA -Leaving at 10:00
Things to bring:
*Chairs!
*Car wash towels and quarters!
*Clothes - even though the weather says it going to be warm, it can change at any minute - bring layers.
*Raffle and donation $. There's going to be some good things and Scott will have his famous T-Shirts at the merch table. (We aren't in it for the money at all, but we do have an expensive hobby we need to feed as well)
I know I have forgotten things - but I'll add them as I remember!

Looks like the San Diego contingent will be leaving from Lee's house about 10am on Thursday morning. If anyone wants to group up along the route heading North, let's see what we can do. There's a good chance we will stop for lunch on or near the Santa Barbara pier. All are welcomed but be warned, us 1500 club guys like to drive fast.
