Moderator edit: Van has been found ~ see bottom of page 2
My 87 Wolfram Grey Syncro was stolen from Capitol Hill last night. It has Passat wheels with BFG AT offroad tires. I just put in a Vanaru conversion less than 6 months ago. Please help if you have any info. I am offering $2,000 reward for the returned van or tip leading to its recovery. No questions asked.

Damn. Any pics or other obvious distinguishing features?
(I can spot vanagons a mile away and often/always go peak at them when I see them.) |

Seems the OP has uploaded some pictures in his gallery, probably too distraught to post them (cannot blame him). Will definitely keep my eyes open.

I appreciate everyone's help. I just had an auxilary battery and inverter installed and was stopping of at my GF for dinner when it got stolen. It was there no longer than 3 hours:-( If you peek inside there may be a skid plate and a/c duct on the floor from a carat. I also have diamond plate installed on the floor. I will keep everyone posted. Got this reward money burning a hole in my pocket.

That was my first too. Good luck. I have shared on my FB and will share on the PDX thread as well. They all had the same MO, steal the van, stockpile their stolen goods in it for a few days, use it as home base, then, when it runs out of gas, ditch it. KOMO did a news story. I will see if I can dig up the reporters name and post a bit later when I get to work.
Good luck. _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |

I'll keep a lookout here in Portland .... it has a unique look that should be easy to spot (and I spot every vanagon on the eastside ).
But yeah ... this is obviously stressful and mind consuming when it happens.
Really want to see these people get a triple life at hard labor sentence when caught |

| Bummer, I can only imagine. Looks like a lot of effort went into your Syncro. I will keep an eye out for parts for sale over the next few months. See if anybody in the neighborhood has a security camera that had your van in it's field of view? Good Luck |

Thanks to Dampcamper for digging this up. This info is from MadMaxine's stolen van thread. I got some good traction by emailing KOMO and much to my surprise, they interviewed Kirk Meeks of North Westy and it got on the news that night.
I have sent them an email with link to this thread, some of you please do the same. I HATE THIEVES!
And, Vince, we do not want a reward, we only want you to get your van back

I emailed Jamie Tompkins, the reporter from KOMO News and she advised she will try to follow up with Maxine this weekend, and, in addition, she will mention getting the video posted online to the Web Producer tomorrow. 8400 views, WOW
We are gonna find your van Maxine!
I encourage all of you to continue to email them to keep this on the radar:
