I finally got around to buying a leg and hinge for the table.
I still need to clear coat the edges of the table, but that can wait...

Being such a nice day and all, my dad got a chance to give the ghia some much, much needed attention.

On another note...
The guy who we were going to buy the '61 bug from returned our call.
My mother answered, and in what she described as a very rude and angry tone he said. "you want the bug? TWO GRAND!".
My mother is friends with this guy's girlfriend... or something... and was told he bought the car for $150. I was going to offer $300 when I first saw it, so needless to say... no deal.
So yes, I think I'll stick with my original statement... "scum"

On yet another note...
There's going to be a dodgeball tournament at my school tonight. My team's called the Sports Team Dodgeball (STD for short). Wish us luck!

I just stumbled across this post via a search for "serpentine belt" I'm about to change my 1969 gen. over to an alternator, picjed that up yesterday, and am about to pick up the Santana from BMD.

Rock on man.

Magiceddie88 Wink

...going to head over to the young owners club and add what I got.

Hello everyone!

It's been a while... that's mainly due to me being lazy on updating
But fortunately that laziness hasn't affected my progress on the bus.

The other day I painted my bumpers with rustoleum's semi-gloss white paint. I used a HVLP paint gun to spray it after thinning it with mineral spirits.

I used satin black krylon fusion plastic paint on the bumper step rubbers (as suggested by a someone on the samba who's name escapes me) and they look like new!

And I bet this next picture will have a few people cheesed off...

next up: brake pads, new tires, and registration! (not necessarily in that order)

I'd love to lower it
however I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon... If I do it's just going to be lowering spindles and some horse show plates.
an adjustable beam just seems like too much

hey, maybe if I lower it a roof rack might clear the garage door Think
just a thought

My dad went and got the bus registered last thursday. We drove around town a few times last weekend, turning all the heads, it was great. he threw some brake pads in it too.
I actually drove it for the first time today! I'm still getting used to it, so i'm just sticking to my own road.

Lookin' good.

Wish I had checked this thread earlier. I would probably have had that window with vent window if you wanted it. I need to figure out where all the VW gatherings are in New England sometime, since I have lots of parts people could use..

Look up at the top of this page, click on "Community", and you will have figured it out. Have fun, make a little dough.

Damn! Its been this long??? Laughing
Well, not much has been going on with the bus. My dad and I just enjoyed putting around for the remainder of the summer. The engine runs like filth though, so Its coming out some time this winter.
Lots of other projects accumulating too. My dad got a '61 bug we're doing a rotisserie resto on (I built the rotisserie):

I also just got an old honda cb100 I'm trying to get running

But alas, this Is the bay window forum, so bay window you shall receive!

....
after much time spent looking for springy curtain rods, I finally got some yesterday. So today I spent the day making curtains to hang on said springy rods.

No dangling curtains here!

I've done 5 curtains so far. I ran out of material but I'm half way there! I like how they came out. They really give that homey feel the bus needed. Plus they match my floor!

So that's that.

Hopefully we can get the bugs worked out of the engine. We're gonna try going back to the stock cam (it's got a scat c25 in it now) and maybe try the Weber progressive that we've got unused in the box. Right now it's just got no balls whatsoever. The bone stock engine in my dad's ghia has more snap to it than the bus's 1776.

Oh, and happy new year! Dancing

what does filth run like?

Popping, and farting.
Not as much power as it should have.
doesn't like to idle when cold.

My dad tells me it doesn't have good compresson, it's too easy to turn over by hand. He thinks the cam is too radical (though it's not all that big) and it's causing valve overlap, hence the reason we're gonna go back to the stock cam.
I take his word for it only because he's the best damn mechanic I know.

thanks man,
It's damn cold here too! Laughing
I had pondered the thought of a red/ white two tone, but the solid white has really grown on me. But who knows, my mind changes like the weather.

Oh, and I'm 18 now, 19 in February. Time flys when you're working on VWs Very Happy
