My father and I pulled this bug out of a yard right down the street this afternoon.
We were trying to buy it a couple months ago, but the guy wanted an unreasonable amount for it, $2000 (he just didn't want to sell it).
He finally decided it was time to sell, so after about a year of sitting in this guy's yard, nothing done to it, we get a phone call.
So we grabbed the tow bar and went for a drive down the road.
My dad got it for a reasonable $500
some front end damage
complete with bullet holes
we couldn't get the back right wheel free, so there's a streak of rubber from the house down the road to ours. The tire held up though!
It's definitely a restoration project, but it appears to be pretty original _________________ '69 Bug,'71 Bus,'61 Bug ,'56 Bug, '66 Panel |

Not bad, other than the nose damage looks like a helluva deal especially for NH. Ive seen cars from NH and seems like they are always salted away. _________________ GFK

yup, thats always the case.
I don't know much of the history of the car, or how long it's been around these parts.
The oil stickers on the inside of the door come from Georgia, and judging from the sticker on the window, it was last registered in Virgina in 1991. _________________ '69 Bug,'71 Bus,'61 Bug ,'56 Bug, '66 Panel |

That's all up to my dad really.
If it were up to me, I'd get it running and drive it as is cosmetically, but my dad plans to start tearing it down right away and do a complete resto.
Apparently he doesn't like the "rust bucket look" _________________ '69 Bug,'71 Bus,'61 Bug ,'56 Bug, '66 Panel |

My dad and I started digging into the Bug over the past few days.
Once we get the doors off (and find some people to help) The body is coming off _________________ '69 Bug,'71 Bus,'61 Bug ,'56 Bug, '66 Panel |

We got the frame disassembled, stripped to bare metal, then primed.
Now only if we had some new floor pans to weld in _________________ '69 Bug,'71 Bus,'61 Bug ,'56 Bug, '66 Panel |

nothing much happening right now.
We pretty much have just been tearing her apart and sorting pieces into boxes to make some room in the driveway .
My dad got the engine completely disassembled & cleaned up so we're just waiting on parts for it now.
Unfortunately our progress is only limited by our funds, though we've got plenty of ambition
I hope to post some updates soon

A few small updates for today....
We got the front beam torn apart and cleaned up
everything came apart fairly easily, with the exception of the lug bolts... we had to take the wheels off with the the drums. Everything else was just caked in grease.
My dad's been putting the engine together over the past few days.
Still needs to get the old valve guides drilled out of the heads.
40 horses of german thunder
we got some paint for the chassis on the way... gonna have to wait to see that
Still need to get some Wolfsburg West floor pans! _________________ '69 Bug,'71 Bus,'61 Bug ,'56 Bug, '66 Panel |
