So I've been having this problem for a little while now and can't seem to fix it. Whenever I start my bug, it will start very slow and have a tough time getting warm and staying on so it will just stall out either right away or after a minute or 2. This gets worse when it is cold which is understandable but it will also happen when it is pretty warm too. I changed both fuel filters, a tune up is done, we adjusted the carb so it will run a little richer to try and get hot quicker but it doesn't help much at all. I am wondering if putting a thinner oil in would make a little difference like 5w-30. I'm running 10w-30 right now. But, I just can't figure out what the problem may be to get it running and stay idling when I first turn the car on. When the car is hot, it runs fine, but the problem is getting to that point. |

Check and see if you have a thermostat installed. _________________ 1968 Beetle |

We can't make guesses until you tell us what carb you have and whether you have a working choke on it.
This so far gives me Weber Progressive goosebumps... _________________

This could be a distributor issue, have you got points in the distributor or have you got an electronic Ignition ? Is your timing correct? |

begin by posting a picture of your engine. We can often find issues just from that. _________________ It's just advice, do whatever you want with it!
