a really rediculous thread to chart my progress on what will inevitably end up in the abortion thread...the bus was a freebie, and a plain '67 kombi which has to be the least sought after split bus on earth, so I have no scruples about seeing this vision out...cut well'd blue on blue toke'n bus on big meats...
As found:
This is the interior mostly celaned up - there are more nasty pics of the interior in my gallery - mouse shit and roaches galore - it's been 3 weeks, so I don't think I got that mouse shit dust disease...
the taillights stay...drop some acid, pull the emergency switch and crank up the jerry...
On the way are some matching front baja style wheels. Plan to put 235/75r15s offroad white lettered tires in the rear and matching 215/75/r15s on the front - can't decide wether to spray paint the wheels white or chrome...
In the works - brakes, reupholstering front seats, and clara-method deodorizing the inside.
Already done - removed interior, spent $25 at the car washing thourghly washing interior and exterior...most of the oxidation on the paint came off with the pressure washer...it almost "shine, shine, shine"s now... _________________ Wish List:

Sweet. Whats the future interior plans? Faux fur, wood panelling, strobe lighting and a z bed?
Are you also gonna grow a mullet and start tucking your jeans into yer boots?

Progress Pictures...
1 seat reupholstered...
de-mouse nested...
baking soda bus deodarant...
matching front wheels and a sweet steering wheel thanks to mattrobi in flagstaff - also just a quick comaprison of a 235/75/r15 to the almost stock size 195/75/r14 that should be on my bus...
right now I think homemade tube bumpers with nerf bars (painted white)
watching the curbs for some vintage shag carpet.

It's one thing that you have the balls to do a build like this, but it takes a real man to build something like this then post it on the samba.

Hot damn!
I really gotta pull my shit together and update the thread on my jersey looker as well. I should probably also get a thread going on all the current running and/or progect jersey look buses out there too. With all that jersey look action in one spot; I'd imagine women's traffic and membership on the site would double.
I'd love to see that bed thing stay. You know, to see out the PO's vision and all.

Can't go wrong there. Just keep in mind that while white is cool and all, its the chrome that really brings the ladies in.
If you're looking for arches, I'd recommend some off a late '70s early '80s Jeep CJ-7. Plentiful in every junk yard and period correct.
Good luck with the project. Just remember that when building a jersey looker, the overriding theme and look you should shoot for is: "Well, I started to "fill in the blank", but then I did some rails, shagged my buddy's girlfriend and lost track of what I was doing." Half assed is OK, maybe even encouraged.
As if the pride of owning a blue on blue babe magnet wasn't enough; get that thing on the road and I'll send you a jersey look t-shirt. Welcome to the club. |

are you going to paint the flares body color or leave them black? and what are your plans for the area towards the back where it doesn't follow the body curve?
keep us updated i love this project _________________ proud owner of a defunct 1979 sunroof kombi

the flares won't easily bend to follow the body lines in the back...too rigid and they distort badly...they'll need to be cut...they will definetly be painted...
right now I am dealing with a badly worn rgb (I imagine from the large meats)...going to attempt my first reduction box rebuild next week once parts arrive...
also torn on tires...I was seriously considering baja offroadish tires (Yoko Geolanders) but I think I've decided to go with hot white lettered radials...BF Goodrich Radial T/As - this van needs to be raked out - like Rich50 in November _________________ Wish List:
