I want to pull out my beetle engine next month to source a leak, maybe the oil cooler. Will I be able to remove tin to get at the oil cooler, maybe replace pushrod tubes without having a stand to rotate the engine as I work? I don't anticipate having to do this frequently and don't have a lot of room in my garage. I have a floor jack, motorcycle jack and stands. I could possible buy a hydraulic table cart from Harbor Freight to lift the thing up off the floor to a work table. Old guy working alone. |

It's easier with a stand, but i've done top end rebuilds on a upside down trash can. _________________ Glenn

I've done complete ACVW rebuilds with no engine stand. My workbench is fine and the engine is light enough to flip. When you get to heavier cast iron engines, then an engine stand is a must. |
