91 vanagon with stock tranny. Im thinking of replacing the cooler with a heat sink advertised on Van Café or foreignautosuppy. Anyone have experiences with this technology (good or bad) over the stock cooler?

I read that thread. Older post so I was wondering if anyone tried the heat sink recently

I have it on my 86 2.1 Automatic.

I've about 10,000 miles on it now, no issues.
Most of those miles were Summer driving to Oregon and back.

Easy install. Just drop the nose a bit so you can access the mounting bolts.

There is a peace of mind about not worrying about the coolant and ATF mixing.

Some say that a cooler is not even needed on these if you do normal" boring" highway driving......

I had one on my van. Nicely designed part. Location could be better, not much air flow in there. It worked great with my stock engine, but not as well after my Subie conversion (2.2). It was fine around town, but the transmission got too hot climbing. I'd say if you have a stock engine you will be happy with it.
