We are in Santa Cruz traveling from Washington and our 1985 Westy transmission has started to make horrible noises. It still drives, but who knows for how long.

We are trying to track down a used manual transmission so The Old Volks Home can put it in and we can get back home.

We have already checked The Classifieds and Craigslist with no luck.

If you know any shops, friends or junk yards in the Bay Area that may be of help let us know. Any leads are very appreciated.

THANK YOU

The Vanagon at the Monterey pick and pull is an automatic. Just saw it a few days ago.

Don't know if you still need something.. But in el dorado hills , about 40 miles east of Sacramento is Porters Precision. He used to work at Van Cafe and is well known in the area for tranny work. Works with Stephans Auto Haus from what I hear.

He's doing my GW swap next week.

Bit of a drive but just in case you need more options.
