				| I'm trying to make my bus engine look "fackory" as I like to say. 1965- do i need a hard line threaded into the fuel pump?
What else do you purists see wrong in this picture?
What color should the oil pressure switch wire be? I want to put on the OG metal wire crimp ends.
Did the Deluxe 21 window buses ever have a speed regulator?
I'm missing one clamp for the rubber air cleaner tube. Anyone have one?

				| Nice looking engine. Here's a page from the owner's manual for comparison, if you have not seen it already:

 What dist. is that?

 Thanks for the input Crofty.

Its just a single vacuum unit i found in my collection of engine junk.
Should i have the short cap and rotor on the dist.?
Where does the fackory valve adj sticker go?
The pre-heat clamp, just one of those thick wire springs right?
30 pic 1 round bowl carb? Dam, the one i have works and looks good with the VW logo on it.

 Distributor: VW 111-905-205L or M, Bosch ZV/JU4R3 (0231 147 002) > 111-905-205N or 113-905-205J, (Both VW Numbers are: 0231 137 005) > 315-905-205B, 0231 137 031
The sticker would be on the aircleaner side of the fan shroud
 Spring- yes

				| Distributor looks like a 113 T or therabouts. Prolly works well with that carb but not Fackory! I' dont't get all worked up about the fuel filter being ion the engine bay like many. I''ve run one there for many years but it is not a factory install or look. If you want a governor many of your parts are incorrect and willl need to be resourced. _________________

				| I'm not really worked up about it but I'd get rid of the fuel filter, install one at the fuel tank outlet and use some type of security clamp to help prevent fuel leaks and the possibility of fire. _________________

				| A little off topic, but not much. I'm looking for part 211 119 549. The preheat hose clip that holds the hose down in front of the engine. Should I just home depot it? I can't find it anywhere online. _________________

				| Resurrecting an old thread as i work on my 65.
 Crofty, Everett.

 Carburetor.

 - 30 PICT-1 carb. It looks like it is a earlier no return spring style. Is that correct and is there any difference in the top of a 28 PICT-1 carb?

 Fan shroud

 - Fan shroud style return spring w/ governor. Was the hole in the shroud where the tube and return spring go in a different location to accommodate the governor? My 30 PICT-1 WITH carb mounted return spring seems to bind leading me to think they changed the hole location for the governor.

 Other parts

 - What crank pulley would they have used? What timing markings and other details.

 - Same for generator pulley.

The image in this thread are gone. Any known accurate images to reference out there other than the factory manual above?

 TIA.

 Fo

Governor requires special shorter intake manifold to keep the throttle cable to carb alignment proper.

				| That’s pretty close. It does have a governor. The blue coil is not correct and I think they started out with the vacuum line upside down and bent it to fit that way which is distracting IMHO. And then there’s that fuel filter.contraption. _________________

				| Looks really good. The lower vacuum hose should be reduced by about half its current length. The distributor cap should be dark brown. The tamper wire does not extend beyond the cover on the governor and should have a lead seal on the wire. The coil bracket needs to be exchanged for an earlier piece. The hose clamps on the air horns should be exchanged for original- they are fairly common. _________________

Plus need hose clamps on top and bottom of each of the fresh air hoses.

Spark plug cables should be blue colored.

Spark plug plastic clips in the fan shroud should be a whitish color (nylon?).

Need proper factory style terminals on the generator. Not only for stock appearance, but for much less chance of voltage drops.

				| Here is a very all original 1964 beetle with only 22 miles on it:
 https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=657206

Beetle and bus used almost all the same engine parts (yes it is a 40HP engine, but it is the small details of this that translate to the similar year buses) , so a really good reference to go off of. Page 4 & 5 especially has the engine photos.

For any newbies. All pipes are steel plated with copper for corrosion protection. Using all copper lines is a no no.

				| Thank you Eric & Barb, tasb & Everett.
I have oogled that black bug since it was discovered as the bases for my 64 bug project. Did not realize the similarities.

I have my hit list now.

 A few follow-up questions.

 1. What options are out there today for blue spark plug wires with the correct ends and correct color. Most are darker blue with the more modern spark plug end.

 2. What would be a "OEM style electrical connector" other than not having the insulation?

 3. Clarification on the copper comment. Your saying the vacuum and fuel hard lines are steel plaited with copper? Are you suggesting that what the higher end shops sell is pure copper? Why can't you use copper?

 Thank you.
