On the original bra from VW, the word VANAGON was writting on the upper left side of the bra.

I would like to make done locally a sticker with the correct font and width and height of the letters.

Can somebody help me on this, with a photo and / or some dimensions of the font ?

Thanks in advance

A sticker is easy to ship/mail - why would you limit people from responding to the thread unless they are local (Montreal)?

you misunderstood, or i wrote uncorrectly, or both.

I don't think this kind of sticker / decal already exist. If it is the case, i would like to purchase it.

But i believe it doesn't exist and i would like to get the measurement of the word VANAGON on the original Bra, and then i would make it done locally.

Here's mine - just not sure how "original' it is:

FWIW, I'm sceptical that a sticker will last on the hot/cold/flexible/brittle vinyl bra...sounds like a recipie for adhesive failure.

Check into a local embroidery shop - a modern computer controlled machine uses the same
graphics info as a sticker shop, gives better results and it'll last the life of the bra...

Definitely more "original" as well.

SOT but do you find that bras damage the paint? I assume you use them for protection of the nose ~ do they provide more protection than harm in the long run? They look nice, especially with the embroidery, and i have lots of rock chips on my nose...

This is only our fith summer with the van, but here's my take:

I usually leave the bra off while the van's being used for around town & short excursions/overnights
(doesn't get a lot of miles & not much traffic throwing rocks, etc.) but I've always put it on for our long roadtrips.

Seems like leaving it on all the time would risk some abrasion through wax & paint (I have noticed
some dulling due to dirt along the edges when I take it off after said roadtrips, but cleans up
with polishing compound); but off all the time risks more dings & paint chips like you're seeing.

The only time I wish I'd definitely had it on was this summer when I hit a good-sized bird
a glancing blow across the nose; now I've got a baseball-sized divot right above the upper
grille - might have been prevented with the bra in place.

That sounds like wise bra usage. I also have some hail damage to that same panel between the windshield and the grille...may wait until paint job and then use a bra as you do. Thanks

The embroidery on the above bra is nothing more than an outline of the Vanagon badge on the hatch. Take a good, clear, large photo of your badge and head over to your local embroidery shop with the bra. Unless someone already has a line drawing of the badge they could post up, as that would be even better for the shop.

Ditto. Always make sure the bra is clean; always make sure the paint is clean. Remove it when not on road trips; remove it when in rainy weather. Used properly, bras do more good than harm... as all three of my VWs will attest to.

Does use of a bra increase operating temps? Just wondering if the slightly reduced airflow across the radiator has any ill effect. Thinking of adding a bra to mine, solely because of the ugly dents/scratches on the front that a bra would disguise. Easier than a dent removal/refinish, for now. But I am concerned about possibility of running hotter.

The bra has zero affect on my van's cooling; the gauge reads the same with or without the bra.

Mine too, but I've cut away some of the insect screening.

Yep. Just buy one of these

(or the single-round version) and cut the excess screen off. For a more professional job, sew some felt to the raw edges of the freshly cut screen.

Or, just go with the single-round version and do nothing to it:

I've not come across a S. African grille-specific bra.
