I had the front end tore apart for repairs to the front beam and tie rods and stuff. When I put it all back together and go to attach the steering shaft to the coupler, there is a gap. Is the steering shaft adjustable? What am I missing?

Here is a picture of the gap.

What happens if you loosen up the steering box bolts and rotate it towards the steering shaft?

What sorta heinous fuckery is going on that made someone weld an extension onto the steering box?!?

I literally never noticed that until now. I have no idea. It's a stock beam as far as I can tell. The steering was fine before I decided to redo the front end. I had a sorta bent steering dampener but other than that it was fine.

I haven't tried that. I thought the steering box is "locked" into position by some kind of bracket or something. Am I wrong?

Go inside the cabin & see if there is an abnormally large gap between the steering wheel & lock housing, it may just need to be centered & pushed back down
