I'm just starting to get our family bus going again (it's been sitting about 20 years). The tailgate seems to be stuck, I can't get it to open. The button depresses easily to about ¼ - ⅛" left outstanding but the door won't budge.
I thought perhaps pushing from the inside while someone outside pushes the button might work but I can't get inside just yet (stuff in the way I can't move).
Doesn't look rusted or other compromise. Any other suggestions? Does this happen a lot?

Maybe it’s locked.
Once you remove the items that are on the way. You’ll be able to removed the inside panel and open it. Once open you’ll probably be able to figure out what the issue is, it’s a pretty simple mechanism.

I have the keys and while I didn't remember which way unlocks, turning the key either way gives the same result.
Yeah - I'm hoping once I get in there it will clearer. I just need to move the van away from the wall to take other stuff out that is blocking my access to the rear area.
