New to this site so I’m late to the party. I have bought a 62 notch that needs fixing up. Im wanting to lower it (I know there’s loads about lowering on here).
Beetle beam is an option but can anyone show me photos of a lowered notch on a non narrowed t3 beam? I want to know how low I can go without scrubbing, or should I not bother and just fit a t1 beam? Thanks

These are 175/55/15s on the front. I have driven this car from Oregon to Kansas and back as well as OR to Co and back... rides well, but if you go that low you have to remove the bump stops or the suspension will be compressed into the stops and it can be jarring

I'll have to look for pics but almost every slammed notch you will find is a stock beam, the type 1 beam is a relatively new downgrade. They still ride pretty nice slammed on a stock beam

this was I think 4 splines front 3 splines rear, daily driver. It was already lowered and I lowered it more

Don't insult the type 3 with a Bug beam

You can lower a type 3 low enough with the stock beam

Looks sweet, if this can be achieved with a t3 beam there is no point in me changing it. Did you lower the inner or outer splines?

Outer. and lowered beetle oil shocks.

At the very least, try it before you spend the money converting over. To me, the type 3 beam is so much better riding I would never swap it with a type 1

I know I'm not slammed in this pic, but I'm running 195-60-15's in front, and 205-65-15's in the rear. 2 spline inner drop front, and 50 year sag in the rear. I have too much crap that WILL hit to go lower around here.

I've been to Hershey PA, and out to Joplin Missouri with this car (was cleaning it up to go to Missouri when the pic was taken).

And here's my son's car. It's on 195-50-15's in front and 195-60-15's in the rear, dropped 2 splines in the rear and 3+ in the front.

He's also using dropped link pin bug oil shocks up front, and KYB gas shocks in the rear. It rides really nice too. Cool

And my old 71 while under construction. This is 2 splines down (outer) in front, and 2 splines down in the rear, with 195-60-15's on all 4 corners.

They look sooooo nice with a stock lowered beam, unlike a type 1 beam that makes the look like shopping carts.

If you want to be really low, T-1 is the way to go. also cutting off the lower beam support areas is a must with the conversion. no biggie, cut mine and welded them up flush.

Do you want to be a pandragger or just lowered some on stock suspension?
