I really don't like JBugs because I was disappointed with the quality of the product I ordered through them. I was wondering if CIP1 is any better as far body parts they sell.

Or www.aircooled.net. John there tries to get the highest quality parts he can find. Not always the cheapest as a result, but should be the best quality available.

Really depends on what you are looking for - rubber and chrome is always Wolfsburg West for me. I use CIP1 quite a bit, but you may want to verify the quality of the part with customer service if you are unsure. They usually specify of parts are OEM quality or not. Aircooled.net is good, just sometimes a little pricier and slower.

Every time I have ordered from JBugs I have had a big hassle over shipping. I have started using CIP1 and Mamotorworks since the last screw up on shipping from JBugs. Although all the rubber parts I ordered came from West Coast Metric.

Iv'e made several orders from cip1 with no complaints. One order from Wolfsburgwest, also no complaints. I didn't order from Jbugs because it doesn't tell you the shipping cost.

yea that was the biggest ordeal I went through, they told me $25 for shipping when I did order then next thing I knew I was charged $72 for shipping and they said it was their mistake by giving the wrong quote
I mean seriously?

Cip1 has great customer service. They don't have a lot of Vanagon stuff but the orders I have made have gone well.
They had a killer deal on Corbeau seats and I just got back from picking them up at their office. Not another VW in sight! But one of the guys was stoked to see my Syncro so he came out and took photos of it.

CIP1 has great customer service...

Gotta read it in the feedback section - I had an awesome experience
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=51605&start=420

Greetings and Blessings

I was referred to CIP1 by a fellow Samba member Gus a business owner of a VW shop here in Miami.

I placed the order for 4 Rader Style Chrome wheels last week by phone and then by web which is user friendly and easy to navigate. I was met by not only the sales person but Kris himself when I requested some advice on fitment issue i may have.

Kris told me exactly what to expect and what i would need for my '67 application. He even suggested the tire size I should use.

I ordered the wheels online and the shipping was about $87.00+ which was a really good deal .. I am a business owner and I ship daily in the U.S. and overseas so i know what shipping costs.

I was told it would be 7-10 days and i received them in 5 days time ..
Awesome rapport with the staff at CIP1 and thorough tracking of my package via DHL

I received the wheels today and it got here pretty quickly.
The whole process from beginning to end was flawless with good customer service to boot.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

One of the wheels had a small scratch and when I called Customer service they were both friendly , courteous and thorough. They offered me a solution that I felt was complementing to the overall experience I have had with Kris and the CIP1 staff.

Even in the line of work that I am in Customer Service is of the utmost importance.

I represent one of the largest and best Powder-coating establishments here in South Florida by the name of Bullseye Powdercoating and will be sure to recommend my clients and friends to CIP1.

Many of the restored and sharp looking VW's and antiques have had their sandblasting and powder-coating done with us so that is evident that customer care is important and that is what I have found with CIP1.

Shalom,

V. Zach'Riah M.

Jbugs has a big advantage for a newbie. They call about shipping and while we were on the phone the Jbugs guy pointed out that most of the things I orders were for a bug, but this one thing will only fit a type 2, and asked if I meant to order a type 2 part. He changed the order and shipped a part that will fit. Nice follow up.

Cip1's costomers service is great. I had a few problems and they were very quick to make it right. Highly recommend them. There my second stop if my local parts house is out of stock.

Cip1 has done a fantastic job everytime I have ordered from them. They will tell you in the description if it is an economy part. I'm making a big order this week (yay, rare $$$) and plan on using them. Side note, has anybody used Car Craft? They have a few lower prices than Cip1 but I don't have not heard people talk about their experiences.

I've had parts from CIP1 in the past that were "OEM quality", and were still just cheap junk. One of the worst was their bug side view mirrors. And their "German" fuel line, wasn't. It's not all bad stuff though. And their customer service is great. I still order there for some things, but if I need a quality part, I go elsewhere.

Ordered from JBugs twice long ago, had problems with the shipping, the quality of the parts received, how the parts were packaged, and the customer service was basically non-existent. Never ordered there again.

Good stuff. I thought I'd drop my 2 cents on the discussion since I've been ordering up parts lately in decent sized orders ($100+)

Most of my orders have been through Jbugs and I've honestly not had any problems with shipping or customer service. I can't really say the quality has been great though some of the parts have been cheaply manufactured (I ordered tail lights that were some pretty cheap plastic but they work and were easy on the wallet). All of the stuff I've ordered from them works and isn't too bad on the wallet.

My next order is engine components and I was looking around to see where everyone shops. I have to get a new clutch plate, flywheel o ring, main seal, throw out bearing, etc. so quality is top priority ATM, unlike ordering bulbs or other misc stuff.

Primary example is the clutch plate. Jbugs has two for sale. I'm not sure which to get so I'll probably get the German, more expensive one? Better quality??

Cheap one (http://www.jbugs.com/product/311141031DKV.html)
Expensive German one (http://www.jbugs.com/product/311141031D.html)

Thoughts before I place my order? Should I order from somewhere else?

Mostly everything I have ordered ha been from JBugs. The only issue I have had were a pair of windshield wiper arms which were severely inferior to the originals on my '63.

Everything else has been fine, and customer service has been great. And their website is so easy to navigate - big plus for me.

Website ease of use is a big plus for me as well. It's super easy to find what I'm looking for.

I haven't ordered from CIP1.

Last fall I placed my first JBugs order to get my 1970 resurrection going, was satisfied with speed of delivery and quality of my parts.

That said: I did get a clutch disc from JBugs then for my 1600cc engine, but a different one from your listings, was $26, #32-1250 http://www.jbugs.com/product/32-1250.html Likely this one was made in China, but has worked fine for me in limited use so far. I believe the clutch disc in my 1835cc was also made in China (a decade ago) but has been fine.

Interesting how these threads can fade away for a few years & pop back up...

We only ordered from CIP1 once. Order took way-too-long to arrive, and haven't tried again. Never ordered from JBugs, that I recall.

For general parts we tend to buy from KGPR/Airhead. (We're biased, we have a Ghia, but they're the same outfit that sells other vintage VW parts.) They've always done well by us.

For engine & drive-train parts, we've tended to buy stuff from aircooled.net. A lot of what they sell is high performance, but they have stock parts as well. They seem to be among very few sites that carefully screen what they sell, and try to maintain a high quality line-up. (Something that seems increasingly difficult.)

Quick general rant on retailers from my experience-

With CIP1, I've spent a lot of money over the years, and have always been very pleased, but you get what you pay for, do not buy the "econo" or "fair" quality listings. The free shipping over $99 is awesome, but a little slow, not bad for free though. Many of their parts are OEM if you don't go cheap. They also carry CSP products now, that and free shipping is a very nice thing.

I have had terrible issues with every order I have ever made with Jbugs, missing parts, overcharged, extra shipping fees, backordered parts (even when listed as in stock, but they had no problem charging me without refunding me or shipping the part) and poor customer service.

I like SoCal imports, but they have a lot of cheap stuff, and often charge extra fees for "handling" if you aren't spending a bunch. Most of the parts I have bought from them came in west coast metric packaging, some even cheaper than if bought from WCM themselves.

I love CB Performance, never had a single issue with them, and they ship pretty fast. Good for performance and most general engine bits. Highly recommended.

Same experience with Topline parts. Highly recommended.

I don't buy from Aircooled.net anymore, I have not been impressed with their customer service at all, and it seems as a rule that they mark up all of their products 10-15% compared to other vendors. Look at anything that Topline or CB makes that aircooled sells, and you'll see what I mean... John seems a decent enough guy but when other vendors have lower prices on the exact same products, better customer service, and cheaper shipping, it just makes sense to use someone else.

Wolfsburg West is great, in nearly every way, but I have limited experience with them, so take that for what it is. They carry many parts that don't exist elsewhere.
