So I have a 69 Ghia and I shaved the gas door off and now put a older style gas tank in it. (So I have to open the "trunk" to put gas in now)
Anyway, with that style of gas tank since it is made for earlier ghia's does the stock gas gauge in a 69 work with it? My brain says yes, but curious.....
I know...really stupid question....sorry |

As I understand it, the gas gauge must match the gas tank sending unit.
So if you are transferring in the working pair from your old gas tank, it should be fine.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that. |

I did the same modification to my former 1969 ghia coupe 20 years ago after it was hit by an uninsured motorist. I simply took my existing fuel gauge sending unit and transferred it to the older style filler-in-trunk fuel tank. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |

Buddy there is no stupid questions...
I would change to a mechanical guage if I were you. They just scream coolness...LOL
Or put your sending unit from the '69 in the earlier tank... Providing it will fit of course... I have never tried anything from a 68 or later fuel tank in an earlier version but I know you can do this..
Good luck and post some pics of where your at in the process.. _________________ Scott

It fits. As discussed in my earlier post, I've done it before. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |
