Hi,
Anyone know what the small red (with white stripe) is that's connected to the main positive post on the starter? It's not connected with the start red and black signal wire but on main post with starter power feed cable.

Tks

Is the red and white wire the ignition feed? Would it cause a battery drain if connected to the positive battery cable post on the starter?

1. Signal wire, Red with black stripe is attached to blade connector on solenoid.

2. small wire, red with white stripe, is connected to post of solenoid along with positive battery cable.

Also goes to threaded post which is unfused hot in the black box located left front of engine compartment.

This wire from the alternator to the starter to the threaded post is often a known problem area.

You would be wise ti upgrade it to a heavier gauge wire.
Most of the reputable Vanagon parts sources have this wire, or make your own.
