I have the gowesty lift, tires and rims.
Plus a burley rear disk brake kit.

I seem to have a slight rub on the tire walls from the sliding door now.

Is this normal? Any simple fixes?

Too-wide of wheel offset?
(We have same wheels, I think, they take 215/65-16)

Is the overall track width from brake disc face to disc face same as stock?
(It almost has to be)

Combo of both?

I purchased GW 16 alloys when I first put our van on the road. They bolted right up. The one measurement I had overlooked was the sliding door. It was close, but cleared the tire. Whew.

Anyhow, adding a brake disc in place of a drum does space the wheel further out. Didn’t click on the link, but I recall there was a do hickie that kicks the rear out somehow.

Rear disc kits space wheels out an additional 4mm compared to stock drums. That coupled with your GW wheels that have an ET23 offset are the problem.

If it were me, I'd get different wheels. Talk to Chris at T3 for recommendations on offset, etc.

Also, rear disc conversions may require longer wheel lug studs. Did you replace those?

The needless 7.5 width of the GW wheels makes it even worse.
Too bad we can't get 6" or 6.5" wheels in 16" with ET30-37.

The Tiguan alloy wheel does need the center bore opened very slightly.
Very easy to do.
That one operation gives you a perfect bolt on wheel, with a center cap that fits, and a factory VW wheel, not an aftermarket Chinese wheel prone to cracking.

some have used a router to open up the center of an aluminum rim.. should be able to find that in a search

I went this route.. a 65mm step drill
