My bus was a shell when I got it so a lot was missing and I have no idea how it should have been. I've search at parts diagrams but this seems to be eluding me .

How does the steering column bracket with the knee protector rubber bolt to the dash? At the moment I have a single bolt through it but there is a smaller hole next to it so if someone can help that would be great.. pics would be even better
I am right in assuming this bracket then bolts to the parcel shelf when fitted with simple bolts and washers through the long slots?

Next the Speedo has two hooks that to me looks like you push it up and twist. There are treaded holes for this so can someone show /me tell me would should be here.. just a couple of bolts or are there special washers etc?

Three bolts. One through the dash pod and the other two go through the bracket into the parcel tray from underneath.

IIRC the screws/bolts (technically they are machine screws) are roughly the same size as engine tin screws. You just don't need the chaser slot that those have. Install two of them in the brackets a little bit, install the speedo and then tighten up the screws! You might want to chase out the threads first and use anti-seize on the screws so they will come out easy next time. Oh, and don't forget washers.

I'm pretty sure they're all 8x1.25, probably about 20-25mm long.

I didn’t see this asked or answered anywhere- does the bolt holding this bracket to the speedo pod have a captive nut in the speedo pod, or do you just put a washer and nut on the bolt to hold it all together?

I assume the pod is the same on European busses which have the steering column lock. With the steering column lock the screw gets screwed in from the top, therefore you can't have a captive nut there.

It varies by year. Early ones have a weld but installed.

I expect it’s related to when the later steering locks were introduced - so maybe ‘62ish if I had to guess.

Thanks Everett and mdege - I don't have a steering lock, but I also do not have a captive nut! I'll look at it further; apparently it either broke off cleanly or someone cut it.

Yes, the washer is too small, just test fitting; they should be large and dished IIRC.

Also curious if that angle looks right, or if the bracket is bent too far at column. Or column holder is just up too high...

Let's see a shot of how well your parcel tray fits up in the notch of the steering pod. Do you have a thin lip of fat lip tray there?

Fat lip. Not the tray from the truck but should be identical. Pod had to be shoved up a bit to get it in, and seems something is tweaked a bit from left to right (right side was about 3/4” lower). Hope thats the tray and not the truck!

Anyways, bit of a gap.
