Yeah baby steps. Got the drivers rear brakes done along with line install. A gorilla must have put that brake line on. :/ Cut down the lugs for the rear also so they don't hit my brakes. Going to try and do the pass rear this weekend as there is trans fluid draining out slowly. After that I will do the swing axle boots. Not much pictures as everyone has seen brakes. _________________ 68 build that had been sitting for 18yr in a garage.

Been working on the rear brakes. Ran into a problem with fit up of the rims. I don't have as much room as I thought. No room at all as a matter of fact.
Which got me this from jacking the one side of the car up.
It was hitting the rear mount. I don't want to cut these off or grind them down so will have to find another solution. The result was this and not happy about it but I already cleaned it up and feathered it out. I was pretty reluctant about posting the last pic. The only reason I posted this so no one does the same thing I did.
So there are a few other options to get it back where I want it ride wise and it will prob be a while before I can get it back to where I want it. So for now I am going to raise it back up one click on the inner and see where its at. On a side note it prob would have rode like crap anyways. LOL
Yup brakes are kinda done. I will have to rework them the spring pins hold the brake shoes on are the wrong length. so for some reason they are fine on one side and the other they hit. I had to put the old ones back on for now. I have two different drums it seems... I will prob just end up buying the 5 lug conversion drums for the 68. Live and learn I guess. LOL Yes my top spring is upside down I think.

Leave the suspension as is and run a wheel spacer. 3/8" is the most common you see sold, but they also make a 1" style that could fit based on the pics you posted. Just size your lug nuts correctly for whatever length is added. Looks great on those wheels! |

Well been long time and life gets in the way. I been waiting since October for these. They finally got them back in stock. I just happened to email cip1 asking for update. They just got them in that afternoon. They said they would be in stock tomorrow. I then asked if I could buy them now and they opened up a 15min window for me to buy them. 😉 Sure enough they were sold out the next day. I got mine though 😁
These are 1" spacers with the longer lugs. I have plenty of room on the fenders, at least the last time I checked. 😁 Be a bit before I get it out of the garage as the weather is lame an just had surgery. 😒
All for now, fingers crossed for spring time or sooner! _________________ 68 build that had been sitting for 18yr in a garage.

Finally got the spacers on and pulled it out of the garage.
Yes the rear is going down another notch. I will get some dropped plates eventually I also scratched up the inside of the rims on the arms. There is very little turn radius. I have not given it an alignment yet and will have to make some turn stops. Prob be little while before I can get it up on blocks and give it an alignment. All for now. _________________ 68 build that had been sitting for 18yr in a garage.

The rear is coming down for sure but I got other problems as far as the rim rubbing on the front arms when I turn to sharp. I don't have steer stop bracket on so need to figure out how to stop that from happening. I thought I saw someone put a long bolt on backing plate for a stop but can't seem to find it.
I don't think I am going to pie cut this one as I am the 3rd owner.. its too nice. _________________ 68 build that had been sitting for 18yr in a garage.

I'm still here. Life has been getting into the way and looking for new job etc. LoL. Pulled out the dub took a picture. 😁 This is how I want to roll , low n slow. Going to try and get it drivable by end of summer. We will have to see how things are going in a few weeks as it might sit till next year again. All for now.

Got my 1" front spacers.
The plan is to go with disc down the road for the front and 5 lug adapter drums in the rear and eliminate the spacers all together. I don't think this will see over 55mph anyways. I will be lucky to drive around the block this year. LoL. Time for rough aliment and get some brakes going and adjusted.👍 _________________ 68 build that had been sitting for 18yr in a garage.
